Doushan Street, located in She County, is a tourist attraction featuring ancient dwellings, streets, sculptures, wells, and memorial archways. Like a long historical scroll, it tells a poignant and beautiful story. The narrow, long, and distant bluestone pavement evokes the " Rain Alley " described by Dai Wangshu .

Here is the Dousan Ancient Street built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, several Huizhou merchant family residences, including the Wang Family House, the Yang Family Courtyard, the Xu Family Courtyard and the Pan Family Courtyard, representative works of Huizhou wood and stone carvings, the " Toad " ancient well, the " Where Yue Fei Drinks His Horses " , one of the only one or two memorial archways in ancient She, the " Gate to Honor the Chastity of Jiang Laipu's Wife Ye " and the Filial Piety Archway.

Yang Family Courtyard

The Yang family residence is said to have been built by their ancestor, Yang Ning. A native of She County, Yang Ning, courtesy name Yanmi, achieved Jinshi in the fifth year of the Xuande reign of the Ming Dynasty and served as Governor of Jiangxi and Minister of Rites. The Yang family residence boasts a well-organized layout, featuring a main hall, watchtower, side rooms, and a main hall. The main hall is grand, with carved beams and painted rafters, and exquisite workmanship.

Ye's Chastity Arch

Legend has it that Zhu Yuanzhang, fleeing Yuan soldiers, hid for seven days and nights in the ruins beneath the window of Jiang Laipu's home on Doushan Street, surviving thanks to food provided by Jiang's wife. Upon becoming emperor, Zhu Yuanzhang, mindful of the life-saving favor, sent for Ye to enter the palace, but she, a widow, refused. The emperor then commissioned the construction of this memorial archway to honor Ye.

Toad Well

According to legend, Dousan Street was originally short of water. During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, local residents dug two springs from the hiding place of a pair of toads, and clear and sweet water gushed out. So they dug a well there, and eventually it became the Toad Well, which has never dried up for more than a thousand years.
