He first served as magistrate of Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province, and later as governor of Jiaozhou. He was later promoted to Chief Clerk of the Prince of Jing's Palace and granted the rank of Fourth-Rank Imperial Doctor. Because of his outstanding political achievements, the emperor granted permission for the construction of this stone archway.
