Boston Logan Terminal A to E
This question was asked about a year ago but the thread for hijacked and I didn't find a clear answer.
I'm traveling from Tampa to Boston on Delta then connecting to an international flight. We only have a two hour connection.
I believe we'll be coming into Terminal A. If our bags are checked through, can we walk to Terminal E? Someone mentioned a sky bridge... Or would it be quicker to take the shuttle at gate A11? I assume we would have to go through TSA again at Terminal E. Is that also there case, even if we take the shuttle?
I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks!
Connecting at Boston Logan Airport from Terminal A to Terminal E can be straightforward if you plan carefully, especially with a two-hour connection. Here are the key details:
Walking Between Terminals:
- Terminals A through E are all connected via a series of pedestrian bridges, hallways, and moving walkways inside the secured area.
- If your bags are checked through to your international flight, you can stay inside the secure area and walk to Terminal E without having to re-clear TSA.
- The walk is roughly 10–15 minutes at a normal pace, but it can take longer during peak travel times. Follow signs for Terminal E and allow extra time for crowds.
Airport Shuttle:
- Logan provides free shuttle buses that run outside the terminals for passengers, but if you are already airside and your bags are checked through, walking is generally faster and easier than taking a shuttle.
- Taking a shuttle would require exiting security and then re-entering through TSA at Terminal E, which could add significant time to your connection.
TSA and Security:
- If you stay inside the secure area and walk via the pedestrian connections, you will not need to go through TSA again.
- If you exit the secure area (for example, to take a shuttle), you will need to clear TSA at Terminal E before boarding your international flight.
Recommendations:
- Follow signs for Terminal E after arriving in Terminal A; stay inside the secure area to save time.
- Allow at least 45–60 minutes for the walk, navigating crowds, and arriving at your departure gate comfortably.
- Confirm with Delta that your bags are checked through to your final international destination to avoid unnecessary TSA re-screening.
Overall, for a two-hour connection, walking via the secure pedestrian paths is the most efficient and stress-free option. Only use the shuttle if you have mobility issues or prefer a less physically demanding route.
