Questions

Anniversary is in April.

I have always wanted to spend some time in Georgia Beach areas.

We usually hit florida.

Always thought about Tybee.

After some reading kinda scared.

If out of St Simon's, Jekyll Island, and Tybee which one and why?

It's stressing me out and I can't pick lol.

We aren't drinkers so bars don't matter.

Thank you!!

Happy upcoming anniversary! Choosing between Tybee Island, St. Simons Island, and Jekyll Island can be tough, especially if you’re looking for a relaxing beach getaway in Georgia. Here’s a detailed breakdown to help you decide based on what each island offers.

Tybee Island:

  • Closest to Savannah (about 20 minutes from downtown), making it easy for day trips into the city for sightseeing, dining, and cultural experiences.
  • Smaller, more intimate beach town with a mix of vacation rentals and small inns.
  • Beautiful beaches, good for walking, sunbathing, and beachcombing.
  • Tourist-heavy at times, especially near the pier; can feel busier than the Golden Isles.
  • Lots of casual dining options and local seafood restaurants.

St. Simons Island:

  • Part of the Golden Isles; larger and more developed than Jekyll but still relaxed and scenic.
  • Offers a nice mix of beaches, walking trails, and historical sites such as the lighthouse and pier.
  • Has bike-friendly paths and opportunities for light outdoor activities like kayaking or bird watching.
  • Quieter and less crowded than Tybee, especially in April.
  • Good selection of restaurants and small shops, but overall a low-key atmosphere without nightlife pressure.

Jekyll Island:

  • Very serene and natural; great if you’re seeking a true “beach escape” without many tourists.
  • Most of the island is part of the Jekyll Island Historic District, with bike paths, nature trails, and undeveloped beaches.
  • Perfect for couples who want a slower pace, enjoy walking along the beach, watching wildlife, and biking through scenic areas.
  • Limited commercial development; restaurants and accommodations exist but are fewer than St. Simons or Tybee.
  • Offers a sense of seclusion and romantic privacy—ideal for a special anniversary.

Summary Advice:

  • If you want to mix a beach stay with easy access to culture, dining, and a city vibe → Tybee Island.
  • If you want a balance of quiet beaches, outdoor activities, and a small-town feel → St. Simons Island.
  • If you want a peaceful, secluded, nature-focused escape → Jekyll Island.

For an anniversary in April, both St. Simons and Jekyll will likely be less crowded than Tybee, and the weather is usually pleasant for walks, biking, and enjoying the beaches without summer crowds.
