June Visit
Hi, I'm thinking of visiting mid June for 3 or 4 nights. Never been here. I'm looking at Beachview Club Hotel and Residence Inn by Marriott. (I'll have a car)
Any thoughts on these two? or any better recommendations as far as hotel/area. I prefer nicer hotel with pool and beach.
Thank you.
Jekyll Island is a fantastic choice for a relaxing getaway, especially in mid-June when the weather is warm and perfect for beach activities. Both the Beachview Club Hotel and the Residence Inn by Marriott are great options, but they offer different experiences. Here's a detailed comparison of these two hotels and some other recommendations that might suit your preferences for a nice hotel with a pool and beach access:
Beachview Club Hotel:
The Beachview Club Hotel is a charming boutique-style property located close to the beach. It offers a more intimate, relaxed atmosphere, and it’s a great option if you’re looking for a quieter, more private experience. The hotel has a pool, which is great for cooling off after a day at the beach, and its proximity to the beach allows easy access to the sand and surf.
- Pros: The hotel is very close to the beach, so you’ll have easy access to beach activities. It’s a smaller hotel, which tends to create a more laid-back vibe, and it has a nice, homey feel.
- Cons: While the hotel is lovely, it doesn’t offer as many amenities as some of the larger resorts. The size of the hotel might not provide as much variety or the same level of luxury that a larger chain hotel might offer.
Residence Inn by Marriott:
The Residence Inn by Marriott is a larger hotel offering more extended-stay-style accommodations, which can be a great option if you prefer a more “home-like” experience with the comfort of a kitchenette. The hotel offers a larger pool, which could be a great bonus for relaxation, and it’s located on the island with easy access to the beach.
- Pros: The Residence Inn offers spacious rooms, and the kitchenette feature is ideal if you plan to stay for a longer period. It also provides free breakfast, which is a nice bonus. It’s larger than Beachview Club Hotel, so you might find more variety in services, such as business facilities, and a larger pool area.
- Cons: It’s a larger hotel with more guests, which can make it feel less intimate. The property isn’t as directly on the beach as Beachview Club Hotel, so it may take a little longer to access the sand depending on the exact location of your room.
Other Recommended Hotels on Jekyll Island:
If you’re looking for other options that might offer a higher level of luxury or more amenities, here are a few suggestions:
- The Westin Jekyll Island: This is one of the most luxurious and well-known hotels on the island. It offers a large outdoor pool, direct beach access, and upscale amenities. It’s a larger property with a resort feel, perfect if you’re looking for a more resort-style experience. The Westin also offers beautiful ocean views and an on-site restaurant, making it a great choice for a relaxing vacation.
- Jekyll Island Club Resort: This historic resort is a beautiful and unique option on the island. It offers a blend of history and luxury, with beautiful grounds, an excellent pool area, and beach access. The resort is known for its stunning architecture and old-world charm, with modern amenities. It’s one of the more upscale options on the island, offering a lot of character and high-end services.
- The Beach House at Jekyll Island: This is another lovely beachfront option on the island with a more modern and relaxed vibe. It’s a great place if you want a beachfront experience with a laid-back atmosphere but still enjoy amenities like a pool and access to the beach.
Things to Keep in Mind:
- Weather: June can be quite warm and humid on the Georgia coast, so make sure to stay hydrated and take advantage of the pool and beach to cool off. Be prepared for occasional rain showers typical for the summer months, so it’s a good idea to have indoor plans just in case.
- Parking: Most of the hotels on Jekyll Island offer free parking, which is a great perk. Be sure to confirm parking availability with the hotel, especially if you’ll be bringing a car to explore the island.
- Book Early: Jekyll Island can get quite busy in June, so it’s advisable to book your accommodations as soon as possible to secure the best rates and availability.
Conclusion:
If you prefer a smaller, more intimate stay with close beach access, the Beachview Club Hotel is a great option. However, if you’re looking for more amenities like a pool, larger accommodations, and a longer stay experience, the Residence Inn by Marriott is an excellent choice. For a more luxurious stay, you might want to consider The Westin Jekyll Island or the Jekyll Island Club Resort, both of which offer fantastic beach access, upscale facilities, and resort-style amenities.
Overall, Jekyll Island is a beautiful and relaxing destination, and you’ll have no shortage of great accommodations to choose from for your June visit!
