Public transport to Covington?
I’m from the UK and doing a USA/ Canada trip, we fly into Atlanta airport from Toronto and doing 2 nights in Covington. Just looking into it and I’m not sure what my best option is to get from the airport to Covington and back? Is there Uber/ rideshare apps? Public transport?
Also whilst in Covington it doesn’t look like my hotel is close to the town (La Quinta) so will there be Uber for quick little trips like to take me into the town?
For your trip to Covington, here are some transportation options for getting from Atlanta Airport and moving around Covington:
Getting from Atlanta Airport to Covington:
- Uber/Rideshare Apps: Yes, Uber and other rideshare services like Lyft are available at Atlanta Airport (Hartsfield-Jackson), and they are likely your most convenient option for getting to Covington. The drive is about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. You can request a ride at the designated rideshare pickup area at the airport.
- Taxi: Taxis are also available at Atlanta Airport, and they can provide a direct ride to Covington. The fare will likely be similar to Uber/Lyft but might be a bit higher.
- Public Transport: There is no direct public transportation from the airport to Covington. However, you could take a MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) train to the nearest station and then try to find a local bus or taxi, but this would be quite complicated and take a lot longer than taking an Uber. I would recommend rideshare as the most efficient option.
Getting Around Covington:
- Uber/Lyft: Uber and Lyft operate in Covington, so if your hotel (La Quinta) is not in walking distance from downtown or other areas you want to visit, you can easily request a ride. The town is small, so the rides should be fairly quick and affordable.
- Public Transportation: Covington does not have an extensive public transport system. Most visitors rely on Uber/Lyft or rent cars to get around. If you plan on visiting multiple spots in Covington, using a rideshare service or renting a car might be more convenient than waiting for buses.
Final Recommendations:
- If you want to explore the downtown area of Covington, I recommend using Uber for quick trips, as it's an easy and affordable way to get around.
- For your airport transfer, rideshare apps are likely the most convenient and cost-effective option.
- If you're planning to rent a car for more flexibility, there are several rental agencies at the airport that could be a good option for your entire stay.
Hope this helps, and have a great time in Covington!
