Nashville to Savanna

I'm travelling from Nashville to Savanna 12th April, where to overnight to break the trip, want to avoid Atlanta.

For your trip from Nashville to Savannah on April 12th, if you want to avoid driving through Atlanta and break up the trip, there are several good places where you can overnight that are halfway between the two cities. Here are some great options:

  • Macon, GA – This is one of the most common stopover points between Nashville and Savannah. It’s a little over halfway, with a convenient location off I-75. Macon offers a range of hotels, restaurants, and attractions, such as the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park. It’s a peaceful town to relax, and you’ll avoid the traffic-heavy areas of Atlanta.
  • Warner Robins, GA – A bit south of Macon, Warner Robins is another option that is just about 5-10 minutes further down I-75. This small city offers easy access to hotels and dining and has a more low-key atmosphere compared to bigger cities. It’s a great choice if you want a quiet stopover.
  • Valdosta, GA – If you want to go a little further south before stopping, Valdosta is a great option. Located near the Georgia-Florida state line, Valdosta is a bit closer to Savannah and offers several hotels and restaurants. It's also home to the Wild Adventures Theme Park if you want to stretch your legs during your break.

All of these options provide safe, convenient places to rest and are away from the bustling traffic of Atlanta. The drive will be much smoother, and you'll be able to enjoy a more relaxed experience before continuing to Savannah. If you’re looking for a shorter break, Macon would be the best choice, but if you’d like a quieter stop, Warner Robins and Valdosta are good alternatives.
