Layover time in ATL for connection

Question

We are looking at flights into ATL, arriving in termina 5 and connecting flight leaving Terminal 1. We have two options: 2 hour layover, or 4 hour layover. Our luggage will be transferred between Delta flights. Thoughts on enough time to make the next flight? Our flight is from BWI, going to PTY. Thanks for any help; we are not familiar with this airport ...yet!
