Day trip away from Atlanta - any recommendations?

Going to be in your hot city in July for a bit. I have a free day and night to visit another place.

Would love recommendations from people.

My criteria is:

Public transport accessible (I don{t drive)

Outside of Georgia

Not into hiking or beaches

2.5h max journey (one way)

Have a little bit of life (ideally a city)

Traveling solo (male)

Looked at Birmingham, Montgomery, Auburn and Chattanooga. But would love to hear from y’all. Honestly, just looking for a southern American experience.
