Tigers Game with 9 and 7 year old

Hi!

I am surprising my sons with a Tigers game on a Sunday in the next few weeks, just curious for tips on easy places to park for a 1pm game and any other suggestions of things to do/see when in the area. They have some high energy levels so any playgrounds or things that can help them blow off some energy before or after the game is also greatly appreciated!

Attending a Detroit Tigers game with your kids can be a really fun day, especially with some planning to make parking and entertainment easy. Comerica Park is in the heart of downtown Detroit, so there are several parking options and nearby attractions to enjoy before and after the game.

Parking Options: For a 1pm Sunday game, you’ll want to arrive at least 60–90 minutes early to secure convenient parking. There are multiple paid lots and garages within walking distance of the stadium.

  • Comerica Park Parking Garages/Lots: There are several official lots including the Brush Street Garage, Park Avenue Garage, and the Tiger Stadium lots. Prices typically range from $15–$25 per vehicle for a game.
  • Street Parking: Limited metered parking is available on surrounding streets, but it fills up quickly. Bring coins or a mobile payment app for meters.
  • Third-Party Lots: Nearby private lots offer convenient access and sometimes discounts if booked online ahead of time.

Pre- or Post-Game Activities for Kids: Detroit has a variety of kid-friendly attractions within walking distance of Comerica Park:

  • Detroit Riverwalk: Great for letting kids run around, enjoy views of the river, and maybe even grab an ice cream.
  • Campus Martius Park: Features open spaces and sometimes fountains that kids love to play near in the summer months.
  • The Detroit Children's Museum: Located a short drive away, it’s perfect for an interactive indoor option if the weather is warm or unpredictable.
  • Playgrounds: Cadillac Square and nearby parks offer playground equipment where kids can burn off energy.
  • Ford Field & Hockeytown Cafe: Even if not entering other stadiums, the area around sports venues has open spaces for kids to explore safely.

Game Day Tips: Arrive early to explore the stadium area. Comerica Park has a lot of family-friendly amenities including kids’ zones, interactive games, and sometimes appearances by the Tigers mascot. Bringing a ball glove and small snacks can help keep your kids entertained in line or before the first pitch.

Overall, arriving early, parking in official or third-party lots, and taking advantage of nearby open spaces or playgrounds will make for a smooth, fun day for your 7 and 9-year-olds at the Tigers game.
