St Marys Village Glacier cabin
Anyone know the size of the mini fridge at St Marys Village in their Glacier cabin? We booked and curious size for a 2 adults and child
Good questions — I couldn’t find any publicly available documentation that gives the exact internal dimensions (cu ft, height, width, etc.) of the mini-fridge in the “Glacier Cabin.” The official amenity listing simply says “mini-refrigerator.”
Here’s what I can piece together — and what I’d assume if I were you:
- St. Mary’s “Glacier Cabins” are described as one-bedroom cabins (queen bed + sofa sleeper), with a small kitchenette and a mini-refrigerator.
- Based on what other travelers mention in reviews of “cabin-style” lodging at or near Glacier National Park, the fridge is likely a small dorm-style or compact refrigerator rather than a full-size fridge. For example, in a review of a similar cabin, someone noted they could easily store a couple of suitcases and a cooler along with the cabin’s fridge — suggesting modest overall room size.
- Given that the kitchenette is “small” and there’s no full kitchen or large kitchen-type refrigerator listed, it’s reasonable to assume the mini-fridge is sufficient for storing drinks, snacks, and modest grocery items (sandwich materials, leftovers, small perishables), but not for long-term storage of a week’s worth of food for three people unless you shop frequently.
What this means for 2 adults + 1 child:
- The mini-fridge will likely be fine for short-term food and beverage storage: milk, water bottles, some produce, yogurt, snacks — especially if you plan to eat out or do groceries every few days rather than stock up.
- If you expect to cook meals in advance and store larger quantities (e.g. multiple days’ worth of food), this set-up may feel cramped, especially with three people. Consider buying perishables in small batches or using coolers if needed.
- Since the cabin includes a sofa sleeper and a small living/dining area, you’ll at least have a bit of space for meal prep and eating — but don’t count on a “home-kitchen” experience.
What you could do to get clarity before you go:
- Call or e-mail St. Mary Village directly — often front-desk staff or booking agents can tell you the fridge model or approximate capacity. The contact info is available on their website.
- If you have a cooler or soft-sided ice chest, plan to bring it for extra food storage (especially if you want breakfasts or lunches in-cabin).
- Plan meals and grocery runs with a mindset toward frequent small purchases rather than stocking up once — that tends to work best with a small fridge in a travel-cabin context.
Bottom line: You should expect a compact/dorm-style fridge — plenty good for drinks, snacks, and short-term food storage, but not ideal for long-term meal prep or large grocery hauls for 3 people. If you’re okay with a modest fridge and plan accordingly, the cabin should work fine. If you prefer more food storage flexibility, bring a cooler or be prepared to restock often.
