Car Seat Availability from airport

Hello - we are arriving at the airport and will have a 3 year and 1 year old child with us. We would rather not have to bring car seats on the plane. Is there some form of transportation that will have car seats? Uber? Lyft? Taxi? We are staying by the Aquarium. While in NOLA we plan on walking everywhere. Thanks!

When traveling with young children, it's important to ensure they have proper car seats for transportation, especially in a city like New Orleans where taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts might not automatically have them available. Here's some detailed information about car seat availability from the airport and around the city:

  • Uber and Lyft: Both Uber and Lyft offer options for rides with car seats, but it's important to note that availability can vary. With Uber, you can select the Uber Car Seat option (depending on the city). This option provides a car seat for one child between the ages of 2 and 4, but it’s not guaranteed to always be available, especially during peak hours. Lyft offers a similar service called Lyft Car Seat, which also includes a forward-facing car seat for children aged 2-4. When booking, make sure to select the car seat option in the app. Keep in mind that these car seats are subject to availability, so it’s a good idea to request the ride well in advance or call the driver to confirm the availability of the seat.
  • Taxis: Taxis in New Orleans generally do not come equipped with car seats, and you may not be able to request one when booking. If you need a taxi, you will likely have to bring your own car seat or arrange for one separately. However, some taxi services might be able to accommodate your request, but you would need to call ahead to check or make arrangements for one.
  • Airport Shuttle Services: If you're looking for more reliable car seat options, consider booking a private car service or airport shuttle that provides car seats. Some private transportation companies in New Orleans do offer car seats as part of their service, but you’ll need to confirm this when booking the ride. A service like Airport Shuttle New Orleans might be able to provide car seats if requested in advance. You could also inquire about car seat rentals directly with your hotel.
  • Car Seat Rental Services: If you’re not able to get car seats from Uber, Lyft, or a taxi, another option is to rent a car seat from a service that specializes in providing child safety seats for visitors. Companies like BabyQuip and Rent A Car Seat offer delivery and rental services for car seats, strollers, and other baby gear directly to your hotel or Airbnb. This can be a convenient option if you want to avoid bringing your own car seats or are concerned about the availability in ride-share vehicles.

If you're planning on walking most of the time while in New Orleans, you may not need a car seat for every trip, but it's definitely a good idea to plan ahead for transport to and from the airport and any other destinations where a car ride is necessary. By either requesting a car seat option from ride-share services or renting a seat, you can make sure your children are safe and comfortable during the ride.

Safe travels, and enjoy your time in New Orleans!
