I will be on holiday in a few weeks and seeking some input from experienced travellers as we have only ever done orlando or naples area.
We will be staying in East Bradenton and 30mins drive to AMI according to Google maps.
Some questions I have if anyone can help.
1. How busy is it likely to be around beaches/restaurants next week onwards for the holiday?
2. What is generally the best beach for a chilled morning with ok swimming for my 4 year old?
3. What will parking be like on the stretch of AMI, is it tough to get parking on the north of AMI?
4. Does anyone have any good options for me to fish where you can park up and my lovely family can leave me in peace and they can go grab a drink (Wife/Child) :)
Anna Maria Island (AMI) is a lovely, low-key destination compared to Orlando or Naples, but it can get busier around holiday periods, even in shoulder seasons. Since you'll be visiting next week, expect moderate crowds, especially at popular beaches and restaurants. Mornings and weekdays are generally quieter, while late mornings through afternoons on weekends will be busier, particularly around the main beach access points and restaurants near the piers.
For a chilled morning with your 4-year-old, you’ll want calm waters and shallow sand. Some of the best options for this are:
Parking on AMI can vary depending on location and time. The north end, particularly Bean Point and surrounding areas, has limited public parking and you might need to walk a bit from available spots. Central AMI and Coquina Beach have public lots but can fill up quickly around peak times. Early arrival is recommended for both beaches and restaurants.
If you’re interested in fishing where you can park and let your family relax elsewhere, consider these spots:
Overall, AMI is very family-friendly with easy access to beaches and local dining. Planning early mornings or weekday visits for the most popular spots will help you enjoy the island without battling crowds.
