We’ve never been to Vegas and we are ending a roadtrip there for two nights in February. Wondering what would be a good hotel for us? We are family of 4 with two boys 9 and 11. I have a little trouble walking so I assume something on the strip not too far from things but I hear there is a tram between some properties also? Not interested in gambling but want to be near a lot of fun activities for their age. Also would like a room with separate bedroom if possible. Not sure if that is common for a reasonable price? We don’t mind splurging a bit if it’s worth it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
Las Vegas can be a great destination for families with kids, as there are plenty of fun activities suited for children. Since you're looking for a hotel with larger rooms, family-friendly amenities, and proximity to attractions, here are some suggestions that would work well for your family of four:
1. The Venetian Resort
The Venetian offers spacious suites that can comfortably accommodate families. Many of the suites feature separate living areas and bedrooms, so you can have some privacy while still being close to your kids. The hotel also has an indoor canal with gondola rides, which is fun for children to experience. The resort is centrally located on the Strip and has easy access to various attractions. It's also not far from the tram system connecting nearby properties.
2. The Mirage
The Mirage is another great option for families. They offer larger rooms with separate living areas, and some suites even feature multiple bedrooms. There’s also a fantastic pool area with a dolphin habitat and a Secret Garden, which is perfect for children. Plus, it’s located in the middle of the Strip, so you'll have easy access to plenty of attractions. The Mirage is known for being family-friendly and offers a good balance of entertainment and relaxation.
3. Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino
Mandalay Bay offers a range of family-friendly accommodations, and the Mandalay Bay Beach is a major draw for families. The hotel has spacious rooms and suites, including those with separate bedrooms and living spaces. The hotel is also home to the Shark Reef Aquarium, which your kids will likely enjoy, as well as a large pool area with a lazy river. It’s located at the southern end of the Strip but offers tram access to Luxor and Excalibur, making it easy to get around.
4. The Bellagio
The Bellagio is famous for its stunning fountains, but it’s also a great family-friendly option. While the rooms are on the smaller side, they do offer suites with separate living areas. It’s centrally located on the Strip, within walking distance to several attractions, and is near the tram service that connects to other hotels. The Bellagio’s conservatory and botanical gardens are lovely to walk through and are enjoyable for kids to explore. Additionally, they offer a wide range of dining options suitable for families.
5. Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino
Planet Hollywood offers spacious rooms and suites, including those with separate living areas. It’s a fun hotel for families with older children, as it’s themed around Hollywood and pop culture, which might appeal to your kids. Planet Hollywood is located in the middle of the Strip, making it easy to access various attractions, and is close to the Miracle Mile Shops, which offers a variety of kid-friendly stores and entertainment. They also have a pool area that’s great for families.
6. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
The Cosmopolitan is a trendy, upscale hotel with larger rooms and suites that often include separate living areas. Although more known for its adult-oriented atmosphere, it’s still family-friendly. The hotel is centrally located, close to many attractions, and offers a pool area that can be great for families. It's also easy to get around with the tram system connecting to nearby resorts.
Important Considerations:
In terms of walking distance, most major hotels are connected by the Las Vegas Monorail or trams, but be sure to verify how far each attraction is from the hotel, especially if you have mobility concerns. The Venetian and Mirage are both within walking distance to many of the most famous spots on the Strip.
Since you’re not interested in gambling but want to enjoy family activities, any of these hotels will give you easy access to a mix of kid-friendly fun. Mandalay Bay and the Mirage are especially great choices with attractions like aquariums and pools for kids.
Lastly, booking a suite or family room that offers a separate bedroom for the parents can be a great way to ensure privacy and comfort during your stay. Many of these hotels have suites with separate living and sleeping areas, though the pricing can vary, so it’s worth checking in advance for the best deals.
