Bbq

Hey guys

Coming down in 3 weeks again for our yearly trip.

We really enjoyed the Joint last year and looking for other recommendations and a bbq place.

We are staying in the cbd this year and will be taking Ubers or street cars. Anything new that has caught your eye in bbq?

Thank you, can’t wait to visit again

It’s great to hear that you’re heading back to New Orleans for your yearly trip! BBQ in New Orleans is definitely a treat, and it sounds like you’ve had a great experience at The Joint. There are a few other spots that have been getting attention recently, and I’d love to share some recommendations for your visit.

New BBQ Recommendations in the CBD and Nearby: Since you’re staying in the CBD and using Ubers or streetcars, here are some options you might want to check out for excellent BBQ:

  • Smokey's BBQ – Located in the Bywater neighborhood, Smokey's is a relatively new spot that’s been getting a lot of buzz for its smoked meats and laid-back atmosphere. It’s a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip if you want to try some great BBQ in a casual setting.
  • The BBQ Shop – Situated in the heart of the CBD, The BBQ Shop is a small but popular spot for delicious ribs, brisket, and sausage. They offer a variety of house-made sauces to complement their meats, and it's easy to get to via streetcar or Uber.
  • Central City BBQ – While not brand new, Central City BBQ is a must-try for anyone in the CBD looking for some serious BBQ. They’ve got a wide variety of smoked meats, and their sides are fantastic as well. The casual vibe and open-air patio are perfect for a relaxed meal.
  • Queork BBQ – For something a little different, Queork in the Warehouse District serves up unique BBQ options and features a fun, artsy vibe. The food is great, and they’ve recently added a nice selection of craft beers to pair with the BBQ. It’s a great option if you want to try something off the typical BBQ radar.

Classic BBQ Spots That Are Still Amazing: In case you’re looking for more of the tried-and-true favorites, here are a few classic spots that still deliver incredible BBQ:

  • The Joint – Since you had a great time here last year, it’s worth mentioning again. The Joint remains a favorite for its smoked meats, especially the pulled pork and brisket. The laid-back atmosphere is great for enjoying a casual meal, and it’s close to the Marigny neighborhood if you’re exploring that area.
  • Jacques-Imo's Café – Though not a dedicated BBQ joint, Jacques-Imo’s in Uptown is known for its flavorful smoked meats and Creole-style BBQ. It's a fun place to visit with a good mix of traditional BBQ and local flavors.
  • Big Lee's BBQ – A bit off the tourist track, but well worth the visit, Big Lee’s BBQ is known for its affordable and mouth-watering meats, especially the ribs. The food is always fresh and packed with flavor, and it’s a great spot for a casual meal.

Other Fun BBQ Tips: Since you're familiar with New Orleans, you might already know that some BBQ spots in the city also offer more than just great meats. Whether it’s live music, outdoor seating, or amazing sides, you’ll find a variety of experiences at these BBQ joints that can complement your meal. And since you’re staying in the CBD, many of these spots are just a short Uber or streetcar ride away, making them convenient for a night out or a relaxed meal.
