Sunset Marquis area

Hi,

Looking at booking 3 nights each side of a trip at Sunset Marquis. My husband & I like to walk so I am wondering if it’s a good area & any recommendations of restaurants or cafe? Last time we stayed at Le Parc Melrose & walked around the area to cafe & restaurants. TIA

The Sunset Marquis is located in a lively and iconic part of West Hollywood, known for its music history and proximity to Sunset Strip. It’s generally safe and walkable, especially during the daytime, with a number of cafes, restaurants, and bars within easy walking distance. The hotel itself has a relaxed vibe and often attracts musicians and creatives, making it an interesting spot to stay if you enjoy that atmosphere.

Walking around the area is enjoyable, though like much of LA, sidewalks and crossings vary, so keep an eye on traffic when exploring. The surrounding streets have plenty of options for dining, drinks, and casual walks along the Sunset Strip.

  • Restaurants & Dining:
    • Rosa Mexicano – for upscale Mexican cuisine in a stylish setting.
    • The Tower Bar – classic American dishes with a cozy, intimate atmosphere.
    • BOA Steakhouse – a short walk for steak lovers and high-end dining.
    • Katana – Japanese robatayaki style, perfect for sushi and small plates.
    • Shutters on the Beach café (if you are willing to take a short drive west towards Santa Monica) – great for brunch or a coffee with ocean views.
  • Cafes & Coffee Spots:
    • Urth Caffé – classic LA coffee experience with organic options.
    • Alfred Coffee – trendy café with good espresso and pastries.
    • Groundwork Coffee – locally roasted coffee with casual seating.

For evening strolls, the Sunset Strip offers a lively atmosphere with neon lights, live music venues, and bars, though it’s more energetic at night. During the day, it’s pleasant for casual walking, people-watching, and stopping at cafes along the way.

Overall, staying at Sunset Marquis puts you in a walkable, entertaining area with a lot of character. It’s a great base if you want easy access to West Hollywood and the Sunset Strip, while still being able to walk to some quality dining and cafe options nearby.
