Newer hotels
I have looked at a tremendous amounts of hotels and I realized that a lot of the hotels in Waikiki are older and that the rooms may be on the smaller size. We are flexible on the location as we will be renting a car. Could you recommend any newer accommodation. We are an older couple and are particularly interested in an hotel with updated bathrooms with walk in showers. A balcony would be great as we will be staying for a week. This is an anniversary trip and we want to treat ourselves to something memorable, without breaking the bank.
Thanks.
It sounds like you’re looking for a comfortable and modern hotel for your anniversary trip to Honolulu. Waikiki certainly has a mix of older and newer hotels, and while many of the hotels in the area are older, there are definitely some newer properties that will offer you updated amenities, spacious rooms, and those luxury touches you're hoping for. Since you're flexible with your location and will have a car, I'll suggest a few newer hotels that meet your preferences for updated bathrooms, walk-in showers, and balconies. These hotels will also offer you a memorable experience without completely breaking the bank.
- Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach: A relatively new addition to Waikiki, the Alohilani Resort is a modern, stylish hotel with spacious rooms and updated bathrooms, including walk-in showers. Many rooms offer private balconies with stunning views of the ocean or the city. The resort also has a fantastic location near the beach, but it’s slightly removed from the busiest parts of Waikiki, which might offer a more relaxed vibe. The hotel has recently undergone renovations, so everything is fresh and modern.
- The Modern Honolulu: Located in the quieter part of Waikiki, The Modern Honolulu is another great option for a more contemporary, upscale experience. It features sleek rooms with updated bathrooms, many of which have walk-in showers. Many of the rooms offer balconies with views of the ocean or the city skyline. The hotel’s minimalist aesthetic and serene atmosphere make it a great place for couples looking for a more peaceful getaway while still being close to the action in Waikiki.
- The Laylow, Autograph Collection: A newer boutique hotel in Waikiki, The Laylow combines mid-century modern design with a laid-back atmosphere. It offers spacious rooms with contemporary finishes, including walk-in showers and updated bathrooms. Some rooms come with private balconies. The hotel is a bit off the main strip of Waikiki, providing a more intimate experience, but it’s still within walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and the beach.
- Prince Waikiki: Though not brand new, Prince Waikiki has recently undergone extensive renovations and is a fantastic option for a comfortable and modern stay. The hotel offers spacious rooms with updated bathrooms featuring walk-in showers, and many rooms include balconies with ocean or harbor views. It’s located a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of central Waikiki, giving it a quieter feel, but still close enough to enjoy all the attractions.
- The Kahala Hotel & Resort: If you’re looking for something a little more luxurious, The Kahala is a 5-star resort located a bit farther from Waikiki but offers a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for an anniversary trip. The resort is renowned for its modern design, stunning beachfront location, and spacious rooms with updated bathrooms and walk-in showers. Some of the suites also feature large balconies. It’s an elegant and quieter retreat away from the crowds, making it ideal for couples.
For an anniversary trip, all of these options will give you the modern amenities you're looking for, while also providing a peaceful and memorable atmosphere to celebrate your special occasion. Since you’ll be renting a car, these locations give you the flexibility to explore Oahu’s other attractions without worrying too much about being in the busiest parts of Waikiki.
I hope this helps you choose the perfect spot for your trip! Enjoy your anniversary in Oahu!
