Wicker Park Nightlife
My husband and I just saw a show at the Riviera and we stayed at the Hyatt Place in Wicker Park. The concierge suggested many restaurants in the area and we chose to walk to Smoke Daddy. Delicious! I would love to return for a girls weekend of shopping and dining. What bars would you suggest for the evening? We are early 50’s and not high maintenance. The Emporium looks like a place we could have fun at, just from looking at the website. Would love to hear about other places with a fun atmosphere, bonus points if it is walking distance to Hyatt Place. Thanks in advance!
Wicker Park is a fantastic neighborhood with a vibrant nightlife scene, and you’re in luck since it’s full of great bars, many of which are within walking distance from the Hyatt Place. Given that you're looking for a fun and low-maintenance vibe, here are some suggestions for a girls' weekend evening out in the area:
- The Emporium: As you mentioned, The Emporium is a great choice. It's a barcade with a fun, laid-back atmosphere that combines craft cocktails, arcade games, and a chill crowd. It’s a great place for a group looking for some lighthearted fun. Plus, it's within walking distance from your hotel, which is a bonus.
- The Violet Hour: If you’re in the mood for something a little more intimate but still lively, The Violet Hour is a hidden gem in the area. It’s an upscale cocktail lounge with an elegant vibe, perfect for relaxing with friends and enjoying expertly crafted drinks. It's a short walk from Wicker Park and has a cozy, stylish ambiance.
- Big Star: A popular, casual spot for tacos and tequila, Big Star is known for its outdoor patio and great selection of drinks. The vibe is friendly and laid-back, making it an ideal place to stop in for a relaxed drink before heading out to other spots. The outdoor seating is especially fun if the weather is nice.
- Lincoln Hall: If you're interested in live music, Lincoln Hall is a great venue that often has great shows or events. It's a bit more energetic, but still not overwhelming, making it a good choice for an evening out. It’s just a short walk or quick ride from the Hyatt Place and has a great bar to enjoy drinks while taking in some live tunes.
- Revolution Brewing: For something more laid-back, Revolution Brewing offers great craft beer and a relaxed atmosphere. They have a cool taproom, and you can grab a beer while chatting with friends. It’s a fun spot to hang out if you’re in the mood for something more casual.
These places all offer a variety of atmospheres—from lively to laid-back—and are within easy walking distance of your hotel. Whether you’re in the mood for a fun arcade night, relaxing with cocktails, or enjoying live music, Wicker Park has plenty to offer.
