HI all, I'm writing from Savannah where we're currently dealing with a rare snow storm aftermath. I wondered if Ellijay got hit by the same storm but regardless- overall, what are the chances that we could have snow in Ellijay around mid February? We'll be there for a long weekend and it's totally fine if there is snow (we're actually Bostonians) but I'd like to be ready with the boots etc. Our friends we'll be traveling with insist we don't need to worry about snow during our short trip. Comments appreciated, thanks!
Ellijay, located in the northwestern part of Georgia, is situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. While snow is less common in Georgia compared to the northern states, it’s certainly possible to experience some winter weather, especially in the higher elevations of the area around mid-February.
Overall, while it's not highly likely that you’ll encounter a major snowstorm in Ellijay in mid-February, there is a chance for light snow or chilly weather. It’s always best to be ready, especially since you’re coming from Boston and have experience with snow. Your friends may not think it will snow, but it’s wise to keep an eye on the weather forecast as your trip approaches!
