Construction Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach

Is anyone currently at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach? If so, wondering how disruptive the pool construction is? Was notified by my TA that the construction is expected to last through March 7. We arrive March 3. Trying to decide whether to find other accommodations. We booked in an Ocean Front room.

Also, out package includes daily breakfast buffet. Is that impacted by the current construction?

It’s understandable that you’re concerned about the potential impact of ongoing construction at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach, especially since you’re planning to stay in an Ocean Front room and are looking forward to your vacation. Here's what you should know about the construction and other related considerations:

Pool Construction Impact: Currently, the pool area at the Courtyard by Marriott is undergoing construction, which is expected to last until March 7th, according to your travel agent. The level of disruption can vary depending on where your room is located relative to the construction zone. Ocean Front rooms should give you a beautiful view of the ocean, but there may still be some noise from the pool area, especially during working hours. If you're sensitive to construction noise or prefer complete peace and quiet, it might be worth inquiring directly with the hotel about any additional details regarding the construction schedule and how disruptive it is. In some cases, the hotel might offer alternate pool access or even discounts for guests affected by the construction.

Breakfast Buffet Impact: Construction is typically isolated to specific areas of the property, so it’s unlikely that the breakfast buffet will be significantly impacted. That said, there could be temporary changes in the dining area’s location or the availability of certain buffet items, depending on how close the dining room is to the construction zone. It’s best to contact the hotel directly to confirm whether there are any changes to the breakfast service or if it’s being served in a different area due to the construction.

Alternatives if You Want a Quieter Experience: If you’re worried about the potential noise or disruptions from the pool construction and prefer to look for other accommodations, the Kona area offers many other hotels and resorts with beautiful oceanfront views. Some alternatives include:

  • King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel: Located close by, this hotel offers oceanfront rooms and is in a quieter part of the Kona area with less construction.
  • Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay: A bit further south, this resort offers a more tranquil setting with great views and excellent amenities.
  • Four Seasons Resort Hualalai: If you're looking for a luxurious stay and willing to consider a higher-end resort, the Four Seasons offers exceptional amenities and less disruption from construction.

Final Thoughts: While the construction might cause some inconvenience, it’s likely to be limited to certain areas of the property, and the impact on your breakfast buffet and Ocean Front room should be minimal. However, if you are particularly concerned about noise or disruptions, it might be worth exploring other options. The hotel may also offer discounts or room upgrades to compensate for the construction during your stay, so it’s worth reaching out to them directly to see if there are any accommodations available for your concerns.

Ultimately, it depends on how important a quiet environment is to you. If you’re flexible, you might find that the construction doesn’t disrupt your experience as much as expected, but if you’re looking for a completely peaceful and undisturbed stay, considering alternative accommodations might be a good idea.
