South Korea Q code

HI. Can i just double check i don't need to complete the S Korea heath Q code when travelling from Shanghai? It states those travelling from China from (Guangdong Province, Guangxi

Zhuang Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province, Jiangxi Province, Zhejiang Province,

Fujian Province, Hunan Province). We will not be leaving Shanghai area during our stay.

Any advice appreciated.

Regarding the South Korea Q-code (health declaration) when traveling from Shanghai, here is the current guidance based on your situation:

The Q-code requirement for travelers from China typically applies only to specific provinces or regions that South Korea has identified as requiring pre-arrival health declaration. According to the information you provided, the provinces listed are:

  • Guangdong Province
  • Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region
  • Sichuan Province
  • Jiangxi Province
  • Zhejiang Province
  • Fujian Province
  • Hunan Province

If your travel is solely from Shanghai and you do not plan to enter any of the above provinces during your stay, you are generally not required to complete the South Korea Q-code for your flight from Shanghai. Shanghai is not listed among the regions requiring the Q-code.

However, a few practical points to keep in mind:

  • Airlines may still ask for health declarations at check-in, so carry proof of your travel history or address in Shanghai in case of queries.
  • Regulations can change rapidly, so check the South Korean embassy or consulate website, or your airline’s latest advisory, before departure.
  • If you accidentally enter the listed provinces during your stay in China, the Q-code would become mandatory for your flight to South Korea.

In summary, as long as your itinerary remains entirely within Shanghai, you should not need to complete the South Korea Q-code for your upcoming trip.
