Maui 2 bedroom suite
Hello,
There will be 6 of us (myself, mother in law, and our 3 kids (2-4)) going to Maui in mid July. We have a 2 bedroom suite at Hyatt in Kanapali, but it’s just for 4 days. Where should I look if we want to stay another few days that would be big enough for the 6 of us? Doesn’t have to be in Kanapail either.
For a group of six—including three young children and an adult—finding comfortable accommodations on Maui for more than a few nights requires looking at properties with larger suites, condos, or vacation rentals rather than standard hotel rooms. Since your stay at the Hyatt in Kaanapali is only four days, you have flexibility to explore other areas of Maui and types of accommodations.
Here are some good options to consider:
- Resort Condos / Vacation Rentals: Maui has many resort-style condos that offer 2–3 bedrooms, full kitchens, living areas, and sometimes washer/dryer units. This setup is ideal for families with young kids who may need to prepare meals or have space to spread out. Areas like Kihei, Wailea, and Lahaina have numerous listings that can accommodate 6 or more.
- Other Hotels with 2-Bedroom Suites: Some hotels offer larger suites that include multiple bedrooms and kitchens. Examples include the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas, Sheraton Maui Resort (in villa-style rooms), and the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort, which may have 2-bedroom suites or villas.
- Vacation Rental Platforms: Airbnb, Vrbo, and local property management companies offer private homes or condos that can easily accommodate 6 people. Rentals can be found across Maui, including near Kihei, Wailea, Napili, or even Paia for a different island vibe. Many have pools, private beaches, and kid-friendly features.
When selecting your next stay, consider:
- Location: Staying in Kihei or Wailea can be more convenient for shopping, dining, and calm beaches suitable for toddlers.
- Amenities: Full kitchens, laundry, and multiple bathrooms will make life easier with young kids.
- Proximity: If you want to stay near Kaanapali for continuity, West Maui condos in Lahaina or Napili Bay may be ideal. Otherwise, South Maui (Kihei/Wailea) is excellent for family beaches.
Another tip: Since mid-July is peak season, it’s advisable to book as soon as possible to secure larger suites or vacation rentals. Using vacation rental filters for “2 bedrooms” and “6 guests” ensures you see only suitable properties. Also, checking reviews specifically mentioning families with young children can help you avoid units that are not kid-friendly.
In summary, your best options are either resort villas with multiple bedrooms or private vacation rentals in Kihei, Wailea, or Lahaina. These will provide comfort, space, and amenities for your family while giving you flexibility for the rest of your Maui stay.
