I was wondering if the weather in June is too hot and humid?
I was down at the end of August, beginning of September a few years ago and found the humidity uncomfortable and almost unenjoyable. Is June similar, or is the weather better?
Visiting Key West in June means entering the start of the summer season, so the weather is generally hot and humid, though slightly less oppressive than the peak of August and September. Temperatures typically range from the mid-80s to low 90s °F (29–34°C) during the day, with nighttime lows in the mid-70s °F (24°C).
Humidity is noticeable and can make the heat feel more intense, but June usually sees slightly lower humidity levels than late August/early September. Afternoon thunderstorms are common but tend to be brief and can provide a refreshing break from the heat.
Some key points about Key West weather in June:
Compared to your August/September experience, June can feel a bit more manageable, but you should still plan for heat and humidity. Lightweight, breathable clothing, sun protection, and staying hydrated are essential. Early morning or late afternoon excursions are often the most comfortable times to explore or snorkel, while mid-day is best spent in shaded areas, indoors, or in the water.
Overall, June weather in Key West is hot and humid, but with careful planning, it can still be very enjoyable and a little less sweltering than the peak late-summer months.
