Hello,
I can't find an affordable driver for a private trip to Mt Huashan for a family of 3. The cheapest I can find is $400USD Is it possible to take a Didi there & back? I would like to get there BEFORE the high speed trains start arriving.
Thank you
Taking a Didi (China's equivalent of Uber) from Xi'an to Mount Huashan and back in a single day is possible, but it may not be the most cost-effective option for a family of three. The estimated round-trip fare ranges from ¥350 to ¥600, depending on factors such as traffic, time of day, and the specific Didi service chosen. This translates to approximately $45 to $80 USD, which is more affordable than the $400 USD private driver you've encountered. However, it's important to note that Didi drivers may not be willing to wait for you at the mountain, so you'll need to arrange for a return trip separately.
If your goal is to arrive before the high-speed trains start arriving, it's advisable to plan for an early departure. High-speed trains from Xi'an to Huashan North Station typically start running around 7:52 AM, with the journey taking about 30 minutes and costing approximately ¥54.5 for a second-class seat. To reach the mountain before the trains arrive, departing around 5:00 AM would be ideal. This would give you ample time to explore the mountain before the crowds arrive.
Alternatively, consider taking a Didi to Huashan North Station, then catching a high-speed train to Huashan North Station. From there, you can take a free tourist bus or a short taxi ride to the mountain's base. This combination allows you to utilize public transportation while still maintaining flexibility in your schedule.
In summary, while taking a Didi to Mount Huashan is feasible, it may not be the most economical choice for your family. Exploring a combination of Didi and public transportation options could offer a balance between cost and convenience.
