Are any international visitors worried?

Given the political craziness in the USA are any international visitors worried about going to Orlando this year? We have a trip booked for July with my two children and I’m a little apprehensive about immigration given all of the issues people are having being detained, even US citizens.

It’s very sad to feel this way, as this is a very special holiday for us.

Many international visitors to Orlando do sometimes feel a degree of apprehension about traveling to the U.S., particularly given recent news coverage around immigration checks and policy changes. However, most trips to Orlando, especially for tourism with children, go smoothly without incident.

Here are some points to consider to help put your mind at ease:

  • Immigration and Customs: While delays can happen, most visitors are processed without issue. Ensure your documents are in order (valid passports, ESTA for eligible countries, or visa as needed) and carry proof of your hotel reservations and travel plans.
  • Family Travel: Immigration officers generally understand family situations, especially with children, and prioritize keeping families together. Make sure to have identification for all children and be prepared to answer basic questions about your stay.
  • Stay Informed: Check your government travel advisory for the U.S. prior to departure. They provide up-to-date guidance and tips for avoiding complications at ports of entry.

Many international travelers continue to visit Orlando every year without issues. Disney, Universal, and other tourist areas see a very high number of foreign visitors, and local staff are accustomed to handling international arrivals smoothly.

  • Precautions: Carry copies of passports and travel documents separately from originals.
  • Contact Points: Know your embassy or consulate contact information in case any issues arise.
  • Timing: Arrive at the airport a bit earlier to allow for potential processing delays at immigration.

Ultimately, while it’s natural to feel concerned given the current news environment, most international visitors with proper documentation experience no problems entering the U.S. and enjoy their holidays in Orlando without incident.
