Children’s activities at Disney resorts

On a recent visit, I saw that the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts offered a variety of activities for kids during the day and at night, most for free. Do all the Disney resorts do that - even the moderate snd value resorts? I’m interested in things that might entertain small children for an hour or so on arrival or departure days, or if leaving the park for a break in the day.

Disney resorts of all categories—Deluxe, Moderate, and Value—offer activities for children, though the variety and scale can differ depending on the resort’s tier. These activities are designed to entertain kids for short periods, such as during arrival, departure, or a mid-day break from the parks.

Deluxe Resorts (e.g., Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary)

  • Extensive daily and evening activities including arts and crafts, character meet-and-greets, pool games, and storytelling.
  • Scheduled movie nights outdoors, often featuring Disney films.
  • Interactive playgrounds and themed pools with slides and water features.
  • Special seasonal events or themed activities depending on the time of year.

Moderate Resorts (e.g., Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans, Coronado Springs)

  • Daily kids’ activities like crafts, pool games, and organized scavenger hunts.
  • Evening movies at the pool or in designated areas, sometimes combined with small snacks.
  • Playgrounds and themed pools suitable for younger children.
  • Occasional character appearances or themed events.

Value Resorts (e.g., Pop Century, Art of Animation, All-Star Resorts)

  • Daily and evening activities, typically more limited in scope than Deluxe resorts.
  • Poolside games, coloring, and simple crafts designed to occupy small children for an hour or so.
  • Outdoor movie nights on large screens near the pools.
  • Playgrounds and themed pool areas appropriate for toddlers and young children.

In general, all Disney resorts provide at least some form of entertainment for kids without additional cost, making it convenient for families to enjoy breaks or occupy children while waiting to check-in, after check-out, or during a mid-day park hiatus. Deluxe resorts simply offer a larger variety of activities and more interactive experiences, while Moderate and Value resorts provide a reliable, fun, and kid-friendly environment at a smaller scale.
