So excited to tag along with my husband businees ttip. I will joun him for thursday- Sunday to explore St. Louis- leaving 4 kids at home.Any suggestions on must do’s.
St. Louis is a fantastic city with a lot to offer, and you're in for a great time! Since you'll have the weekend to explore, here are some must-do activities and suggestions for your visit:
1. Gateway Arch:
- Visit the Gateway Arch: You can't go to St. Louis without seeing the iconic Gateway Arch! It’s an incredible structure with sweeping views of the city from the top. You can also take a tram ride to the top, or if you're interested in history, visit the museum beneath the Arch.
- Walk along the riverfront: The area around the Gateway Arch has been beautifully developed, so take a leisurely walk along the Mississippi River, especially at sunset. It's a great spot to relax and take in the view.
2. Forest Park:
- Explore Forest Park: This massive park is larger than Central Park in New York and has a variety of things to do. You can visit the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Zoo (which is free!), the Missouri History Museum, or even take a paddleboat ride on the Grand Basin.
- St. Louis Zoo: If you love animals, don’t miss the St. Louis Zoo, which is one of the best free attractions in the city. They have a wide variety of animals and exhibits.
3. Museums and Cultural Spots:
- St. Louis Art Museum: One of the top art museums in the U.S., this museum houses a fantastic collection of art from around the world. It's located in Forest Park, so it’s easy to add to your visit.
- Missouri History Museum: This museum offers interesting exhibits on St. Louis' past, including its role in the westward expansion of the U.S. and its industrial history. Also located in Forest Park.
- National Blues Museum: If you’re into music, especially blues, this museum is a great stop to learn about the origins of this genre and its impact on American culture.

- St. Louis-Style Pizza: You can't visit St. Louis without trying their unique style of pizza. The crust is thin, and the cheese is often Provel, a blend of provolone, mozzarella, and cheddar. Check out Pappy’s Smokehouse for some excellent BBQ, or try Pi Pizza for a taste of local-style pies.
- Breweries: St. Louis is home to Anheuser-Busch, so a brewery tour is a must for beer lovers. You can also check out local craft breweries like 4 Hands Brewing Co. or Schlafly Beer for a more local flavor.
