Flea Market Gateway Shopping Center - Lahaina
Hi!
We are heading back to Maui in 5.5 weeks (not that I'm counting!! ;)).
I was wondering if anyone knows if the flea market/swap meet is still happening at the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center? In the Foodland shopping center lot? I haven't heard anything about it lately, and can't find anything online.
Thanks!
Great question. Short answer: yes, there *is* still a market (craft / gift fair) at the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center — but it’s not quite the “big flea market / swap meet” you might be imagining, and it's less frequent than classic swap meets.
Here’s what I found (and what to expect):
- The Maui Gift & Craft Fair runs *every Sunday from 9am–2pm* at the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center.
- According to Destination Maui, this craft fair is held “in the Lahaina Gateway Center parking lot.”
- The fair features 50+ local/vendor booths selling photography, art, jewelry, handcrafted items, and more.
- On TripAdvisor, a recent visitor (May 2025) confirmed that the Sunday fair is still happening, though noted that many of the items are “imports, art and some hand-made” rather than a true “garage-swap” mix.
Things to Consider / Reality Check
- The “market” is more of a craft / gift fair than a flea-market full of second-hand goods. Expect artisan items, local crafts, souvenirs—not necessarily the classic thrift / swap meet fare.
- Because it’s a curated craft fair, vendors are more arts-oriented than car-boot-sale-oriented.
- If you're looking for a *bigger swap meet (with more variety or second-hand items)*, the well-known Maui Swap Meet in Kahului (every Saturday) is likely a better bet.
Bottom Line: Yes — the Lahaina Gateway lot does host a Sunday craft fair, and it's very much alive. But it’s not a full-scale flea or swap meet; more of a local artisan / craft market. If that aligns with what you were hoping for, it's a great spot to check out on a Sunday.
