Help Choosing 2 Restaurants

I'm pretty sure I'm putting too much thought into this, but I'm a planner...and indecisive...it is what it is. Ha!

I need two restaurant recommendations for dinners. We do not eat out very often at home, so I would just like to have a good experience, as it will make our trip special.

My husband would like a lobster boil meal...with seafood, corn, potatoes.

I pretty much don't like seafood, so I nice burger would be great.

And our sons would enjoy either or anything in-between.

I'm pretty frugal, so we don't need the finest dining, just good food, a nice atmosphere, and a little less hustle and bustle. One dinner by the water would be a bonus.

I keep going back and forth between: Stewman's, Thirsty Whale, Bar Harbor Lobster Company, Paddy's, and Getty's.

But, I can only pick two...

Thank you so much :)

It's great that you're taking the time to plan and want to make your dining experiences special on your trip to Bar Harbor! Based on your criteria (lobster boil, burgers, nice atmosphere, and a little less hustle and bustle), here are a couple of recommendations that might be a good fit for your family:

1. Bar Harbor Lobster Company
This spot could be a great option for your husband’s lobster boil craving. The Lobster Company offers a classic lobster boil experience with seafood, corn, potatoes, and of course, lobster. It’s located on the water, so you can enjoy a beautiful view while dining, especially in the evenings when the atmosphere is more relaxed. They offer a variety of seafood options, and while it’s known for lobster, there are other non-seafood dishes available. It’s a casual spot but a perfect place for that special meal by the water. Keep in mind, it can get busy during peak season, but the ambiance and views make it worth it!

2. Paddy's
Paddy's is a nice balance of seafood and other hearty options. It’s a cozy spot with a laid-back atmosphere, and they serve a variety of foods, including a great burger. They also offer a range of seafood dishes without it being entirely focused on seafood, so it could be a good choice for you as someone who doesn’t prefer seafood. While it’s not right by the water, it has a nice ambiance, and you’ll find good food without the overwhelming crowds. The prices are reasonable, and you should be able to get a satisfying meal without the fine-dining experience.

  • Thirsty Whale is another solid choice, offering seafood and a fun, casual environment. It’s a bit more lively but still not too hectic. They have lobster and other seafood options, but you can also find burgers and other non-seafood dishes.
  • Stewman's is known for its waterfront views and solid seafood menu. While it’s right on the water and has great lobster options, it can be a bit more touristy and busy compared to some of the other spots.
  • Getty’s is a local favorite, known for great comfort food like burgers, salads, and seafood. While it’s a good spot, it might not offer the same atmosphere and water views as some of the other choices.

Both Bar Harbor Lobster Company and Paddy's would give you a nice mix of a seafood experience for your husband and a burger (or something else) for you, all while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy your trip and your special meals!
