Hilton suggestions near French Quarter?
My wife and I are planning a 3 night trip to New Orleans this October. We have Hilton Diamond status and enough points to cover our stay, so we’re looking for a Hilton brand hotel.
We’d like to stay within walking distance of the French Quarter. I see there are quite a few Hilton properties in the area and I’d love to hear feedback or recommendations from anyone who’s stayed at any of them.
Thanks in advance!
There are several Hilton properties within walking distance of the French Quarter in New Orleans, each with its own unique features and advantages. Since you’re Hilton Diamond status, you should be able to enjoy a range of benefits such as upgrades, late check-outs, and access to executive lounges (depending on the hotel). Here are some top Hilton options to consider:
- Hilton New Orleans Riverside: This is one of the largest Hilton properties in the area and is located along the Mississippi River, just a short walk from the French Quarter. It features spacious rooms, an outdoor pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. The location is great for accessing both the French Quarter and the Warehouse District. It's also home to the popular 5 Fifty 5 restaurant, which is great for breakfast or a casual meal. A few things to keep in mind: it’s a large hotel, so it can be busy, and its size means it may not offer as intimate an experience as some other properties.
- Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Downtown: This Hampton Inn is conveniently located just outside the French Quarter and offers a more budget-friendly option while still providing comfortable accommodations. The hotel has a modern feel with an indoor pool, free hot breakfast, and good amenities for a more casual, laid-back stay. It’s a great option if you're looking for a solid, no-frills hotel with easy access to the French Quarter and nearby attractions.
- The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel: Although technically a Waldorf Astoria property, The Roosevelt is part of the Hilton portfolio and offers an upscale experience with luxury amenities. Located just a short walk from the French Quarter, it’s a historic hotel with a stunning lobby, a rooftop bar, and the famous Domenica restaurant. If you’re looking for a more luxurious stay, this is one of the best options in the area. The hotel also offers a great spa and elegant rooms, making it perfect for a special stay in New Orleans.
- Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans French Quarter/CBD: This Hilton Garden Inn is a solid choice for those who want a mid-range hotel experience close to the action but without the large crowds. Located in the Central Business District (CBD), it’s just a short walk from the French Quarter and offers modern rooms, an outdoor pool, and a 24-hour fitness center. It’s a good option for those who prefer a quieter, more relaxed environment while still being close to everything New Orleans has to offer.
- Homewood Suites by Hilton New Orleans: Located just a few blocks from the French Quarter, this extended-stay hotel offers spacious suites with full kitchens, which can be a great option for longer stays or those who prefer to cook some of their own meals. The hotel has a relaxed, comfortable vibe with a complimentary breakfast and an evening social. While not as fancy as some of the other options, it’s a solid choice for those looking for more space and amenities, especially if you’re staying for several nights.
Each of these Hilton properties offers different amenities and atmospheres, so the best choice depends on your preferences for luxury, convenience, and overall vibe. Since you're within walking distance of the French Quarter at each of these, you can easily explore the area, enjoy the local cuisine, and take in the lively culture. I’d recommend considering your preferences for hotel style—whether you want something more intimate and relaxed, or a larger, more luxurious experience—and of course, take advantage of your Hilton Diamond status for the best experience possible!
Enjoy your trip to New Orleans!
