Everglade tours
Looking at going to the Everglades. Should we book a tour now or wait until we get to Miami on 23rd June? Also any reputable companies to book with? Saw one that had the most terrible reviews. We won’t have a car. TIA
Visiting the Everglades from Miami is a fantastic day trip, but planning ahead can make a big difference, especially in June, which is the start of the rainy season and also a busy tourist period.
Booking in Advance vs. Waiting
It’s generally recommended to book your Everglades tour in advance rather than waiting until you arrive in Miami. Popular tours, especially those that include transportation from Miami, can sell out quickly during summer. Booking ahead also allows you to compare prices, choose the type of tour you want (airboat, eco-tour, or private guided tour), and read up-to-date reviews for reliability.
Reputable Companies and Tour Options
- Everglades Alligator Farm & Airboat Tours: Offers airboat tours with pickup options from Miami. Known for knowledgeable guides and close wildlife encounters.
- Gator Park Airboat Tours: Located near the southern Everglades, they provide airboat rides and wildlife experiences. Shuttle service from Miami is available through third-party operators.
- Wild Florida Everglades Airboat Tours: Offers both airboat tours and wildlife park experiences. Some packages include hotel pick-up from Miami.
- Miami Tour Operators: Companies like Viator or GetYourGuide list multiple Everglades tours with transportation included. Reading current reviews is key to avoid companies with poor service.
Tips for the Tour
- Check if the tour provides hotel pickup and drop-off if you don’t have a car.
- Wear lightweight, breathable clothing, sun protection, and insect repellent, as mosquitoes can be abundant in June.
- Bring water, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection during the tour.
- Consider airboat tours early in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day.
- Read recent reviews carefully to ensure the company follows safety and environmental regulations.
Booking ahead gives you peace of mind and helps ensure you get a reliable tour that suits your schedule. Waiting until the last minute may limit your options, especially with transportation needs from Miami.
