Group Transport Recommendation To/From Airport

We have 8 ladies that need round trip transportation to/from SAV airport and River Street Inn the last week of August. I am looking for recommendations for car services. Or should be just Uber it? What would the cost of an uber be? We arrive at non on Monday.

For a group of 8 ladies traveling from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) to River Street Inn, you have several options for transportation, and it depends on your preferences for comfort, convenience, and cost.

Here are some options to consider:

  • Private Car Service / Shuttle – If you prefer a comfortable, direct ride for the entire group, consider booking a private car or shuttle service. This option is more expensive than Uber but provides door-to-door service without worrying about multiple vehicles. You can find services like:
    • Savannah Shuttle Service – Offers private shuttles and group transportation to/from the airport.
    • Exclusive Transportation Savannah – They provide private cars, SUVs, and vans, and can accommodate larger groups.
    • Chauffeured Car Services – You can book an SUV or van with a private chauffeur for a more luxurious experience.
  • Uber or Lyft – For convenience and flexibility, you could use ride-share services like Uber or Lyft. However, for a group of 8, you'll likely need multiple vehicles, which could get a bit complicated and might be more expensive than a shuttle service. For an estimate of cost, expect an Uber XL or UberSUV to be more appropriate for your group. The fare from SAV to River Street typically ranges from $30 to $50 depending on demand and the time of day, but since you are a group, you will likely need two vehicles.
  • Taxi – Taxis can accommodate up to 6 people per vehicle, so for a group of 8, you would need two taxis. A one-way ride from the airport to River Street Inn generally costs around $30 to $40 per taxi, totaling about $60 to $80 for the round trip.
  • Airport Shuttle – If you're open to sharing a ride with others, the airport offers shared shuttle services. This can be a more budget-friendly option, but it may take longer as the shuttle stops to pick up and drop off other passengers along the way. The cost for shared shuttles is usually between $15 to $20 per person for a one-way trip.

Since you're traveling in a group, I'd recommend looking into booking a private shuttle or car service, as it will offer the most convenience and comfort, especially if you want to travel together and avoid the hassle of coordinating multiple Uber or Lyft rides. Booking in advance can also ensure availability and possibly save on costs.

For Uber or Lyft, the cost will depend on the demand at the time of your travel, but if you're arriving on a Monday afternoon, it's best to estimate the higher range, especially during peak times. It's a good idea to use an Uber fare estimator tool to check real-time pricing before booking.

Whatever you choose, Savannah's airport is about 15-20 minutes away from River Street, so it's a relatively short and easy trip either way!
