Please recommend the Best Savannah Ghost or Haunted Tours

We're spending a weekend in Savannah in early October and are looking for the best haunted and/or ghost tour. We are a small group, multi-generational (12yr old through mid-60s). We prefer a night time tour, that includes walking (we don't want to ride a coach, rather see everything up close). Since we have a pre-teen with us, nothing super intense or adult themed. We need to rule out those that focus on adult beverages, given we have a younger person included. So many options out there. We would really appreciate any recommendations for tours you've done. I'll add that some of us have been to Savannah many times, so we've done the trolley, historic tours, etc. So we're looking for something specific to experience the spookier side of Savannah. Thank you!

Savannah is known for its rich history and spooky atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for ghost tours. Since you're looking for a family-friendly, walking ghost tour in Savannah, here are some great options that avoid adult themes and alcohol, while offering an engaging and eerie experience for all ages:

### 1. Ghosts & Gravestones Tour (Old Savannah Tours)

This is a great option for families with children. The Ghosts & Gravestones tour offers a spooky, informative walk through Savannah’s haunted history, without being too intense. It’s a walking tour, so you'll get up close to some of the most haunted locations in the historic district. The tour guides are knowledgeable and make the experience fun for all ages, without going overboard on scares. This tour is known for its balance between spooky storytelling and historical facts.

### 2. The Original Savannah Walks Ghost Tour

Another excellent option, the Original Savannah Walks Ghost Tour offers a family-friendly walking experience where you'll explore some of the city’s most haunted spots. The guides share chilling stories about the spirits said to haunt Savannah's historic homes, cemeteries, and streets. This tour is a walking experience, which means you’ll get a chance to see and feel the eerie atmosphere of the locations firsthand. The tour is spooky but not too frightening for younger participants.

### 3. Blue Orb Ghost Tours

Blue Orb Ghost Tours offers a variety of ghost tours, but they also have a family-friendly option that avoids adult themes. Their walking tours take you through Savannah's historic district, highlighting haunted sites such as old cemeteries and spooky houses. The guides are known for being engaging storytellers who know how to captivate audiences of all ages. This is a great choice if you're looking for a more personal experience, as the groups are typically small.

### 4. Savannah Slow Ride Haunted Pub Crawl (with alcohol options for adults)

While this one is more geared toward adults, it’s worth mentioning if you want to consider a more casual haunted tour that accommodates families. The haunted pub crawl is a fun option where the whole group can experience haunted history in a less intense setting. While they stop at pubs for drinks, the tour is still family-friendly for those not interested in adult beverages. Be sure to check with the company regarding how family-friendly the experience will be before booking.

### 5. Haunted History Tour of Savannah (by Historic Savannah Tours)

This tour provides an insightful look into Savannah’s ghostly past with a focus on haunted locations and the chilling tales surrounding them. The guides are storytellers who mix ghost stories with historical facts, ensuring an interesting experience for both adults and children. The walking tour includes visits to cemeteries, historic homes, and other spooky spots in the city. It's a great balance between fun and spooky without being too intense for younger participants.

### Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Since you're traveling with a pre-teen, it’s best to double-check with the tour operator about the content of the tour and whether it's appropriate for younger participants. Most of the tours listed above are designed to be family-friendly, but it’s always good to ask beforehand to make sure.
  • The best time to go on a ghost tour is typically after sunset, when the city’s atmosphere adds to the eerie experience. Savannah in October offers perfect weather for a spooky, evening walk.
  • Wear comfortable shoes since all of these tours are walking tours. Savannah’s cobblestone streets can be tricky, so it’s best to be prepared.

With these recommendations, you're sure to have a fantastic, memorable experience in Savannah, exploring the city's ghostly past in a way that's fun for all ages. Enjoy your spooky adventure in one of America’s most haunted cities!
