Ray’s Game
Any suggestions on a good hotel that’s walkable to Steinbrenner Field. Also if I have to drive how is the parking?
Great question — Steinbrenner Field is not in a super “hotel district,” but there are a few decent options fairly close, and some practical considerations about parking when attending a game.
Hotel Suggestions Near Steinbrenner Field
- Country Inn & Suites – RJ Stadium / Dale Mabry — According to TripAdvisor, this is one of the closest hotels to Steinbrenner Field, just a block or two north on Dale Mabry. It offers free parking, which is very helpful on game days.
- Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel — About a 6–8 minute drive to the ballpark, according to Sports-Teller. This is a more upscale 4-star choice, so it gives you more comfort if you’re okay driving or taking a short ride.
- Fairfield Inn & Suites Tampa Westshore / Airport — Also listed by Sports-Teller as being near the ballpark. Convenient for driving in, and likely a good balance of cost and quality.
- Tampa Stadium Hotel — Mentioned by Dunhill Travel as being less than a mile from Steinbrenner Field, roughly a 15–20 minute walk. This could be a solid pick if you like a smaller hotel and don’t mind walking.
Parking at Steinbrenner Field
- The stadium offers general parking in Lots 1–4, which are located north of Raymond James Stadium.
- There’s also a Premium Lot right across from Steinbrenner Field.
- The lots open about 3 hours before first pitch, so arriving early is wise.
- Official parking is generally around $10 for general parking and can go up to $20 for premium, based on third-party data.
- There are alternative, cheaper parking options nearby: some fans use an app called Prked to rent driveways or garages very close to the ballpark, which can be a huge time-saver.
- There is a pedestrian bridge connecting some lots (across Dale Mabry) to the stadium, which helps with safety and walkability.
- Rideshare drop-off is available via a designated pedestrian-bridge entrance, per the stadium’s access guidelines.
My Recommendation
If walkability is a priority, the Country Inn & Suites on Dale Mabry is your best bet — close and practical. For more comfort or a nicer stay, the Renaissance or Fairfield Inn & Suites are very reasonable and just a short drive away.
As for parking, prepay for the official lots if possible or consider using Prked to find a driveway or private spot — it’ll save you from traffic headaches on game day.
