Basketball and skake on the beach
I have a 16 year old who lives to play basketball rather than sit on the beach. I also have a 10 year old who loves to skate or segway. Wife loves to sunbathe. Is there 1 spot that we can sit in and everyone get their activities? A bit niche I know but any advice appreciated!!
It sounds like you're looking for a beach spot in Tampa that offers a mix of activities for everyone in the family—basketball for your 16-year-old, skating or Segway for your 10-year-old, and a relaxing spot for your wife to sunbathe. While there may not be a single beach that perfectly fits all of these criteria, here are a few great options that combine beach activities with nearby amenities where everyone can enjoy their preferred activities:
- Ben T. Davis Beach – This beach is located near the Courtney Campbell Causeway and offers a great balance of sunbathing and active fun. The beach is wide and less crowded, making it a good place for your wife to relax. Nearby, there are sports courts (including basketball courts), and the bike path along the Causeway is perfect for your 10-year-old to skate or ride a Segway. It’s a quieter spot compared to the more popular beaches, making it a great place for everyone to enjoy their activities without much hassle.
- Clearwater Beach – About a 30-minute drive from Tampa, Clearwater Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area. It’s bustling with activities and has a variety of beach courts, including basketball courts. For your 10-year-old, there are options for skateboarding along the beachwalk, and Segway rentals are available nearby. Your wife can easily find a nice spot to sunbathe while still being close to all the action. The pier and surrounding areas also have entertainment options and plenty of restaurants.
- St. Pete Beach – Located just south of Clearwater, St. Pete Beach offers a beautiful setting with plenty of space for sunbathing. The nearby parks, such as the Pass-a-Grille Beach area, feature basketball courts and open areas for your teen to practice their skills. The beachfront promenade is also great for skateboarding or Segways, and there are plenty of spots to rent equipment. It’s a lively area with lots of family-friendly options and beautiful beach views.
While it’s a bit niche, these locations give you the best chance to have something for everyone in one place. Ben T. Davis Beach might be the best fit for a quieter, less crowded experience, while Clearwater and St. Pete Beach offer more options in terms of activities and amenities. It might also be worth checking with local shops or rentals for nearby activities, such as renting a basketball hoop or Segway rentals, to make sure everyone gets to do what they love.
