Help needed - hotels with DJs/ Music

We are visiting South Beach in October, from the UK, to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and will be staying at Tony’s. My husband is a part time DJ and is looking for any opportunities to play whilst we visit. He plays house/disco at clubs/festivals primarily but also plays in a lot of cocktail bars back home with a more chilled/lounge/background music vibe. Can anyone suggest anywhere he could approach? TIA

Visiting South Beach in October for your husband’s 50th birthday is perfect timing, as the weather is warm but not oppressively hot, and the nightlife is still lively without the high summer tourist crowds. Since your husband is a DJ looking for opportunities, there are several avenues to explore in Miami Beach.

Hotels and venues with DJs:

Many South Beach hotels have rooftop bars, lounges, or pool areas that feature live DJs or background music sets, and some are open to guest DJs depending on the vibe and networking connections. The scene leans toward house, disco, and lounge music, which fits your husband’s experience.

  • The Gale South Beach – Known for its chic rooftop lounge and poolside bar. They occasionally host guest DJs and have a lounge-style vibe.
  • The 1 Hotel South Beach – Offers rooftop events and eco-chic poolside venues; often features DJ sets in relaxed house and lounge styles.
  • W South Beach – Trendy hotel with poolside and rooftop events. They host DJs frequently and might consider a guest set for networking DJs.
  • Fontainebleau Miami Beach – Large resort with multiple venues, including LIV nightclub. More geared toward high-energy club sets, but they sometimes book guest DJs for pool or lounge events.
  • Delano South Beach – Known for its ultra-lounge vibe, has rooftop and poolside events with chill house/disco music. Guest DJ inquiries could be possible.

Other options:

Besides hotels, Miami Beach has a variety of cocktail bars, lounges, and small clubs that host guest DJs. For example, Mango’s Tropical Café, Sweet Liberty, or Blackbird Ordinary (slightly off the main strip) often welcome guest DJs for special events. It’s often about networking—sending a short demo mix and a professional introduction can help secure a spot.

  • Reach out directly to hotel entertainment managers via email or social media with a demo mix.
  • Check local DJ networks, forums, or Miami nightlife Facebook groups for guest set opportunities.
  • Consider offering an early evening “lounge” set at a rooftop bar, which may be easier to book than main nightclub slots.

In summary, October is a great time for a mix of chill lounge and vibrant club sets in South Beach. Your husband should focus on rooftop bars, hotel lounges, and cocktail venues where house/disco music is welcomed. Personal outreach and networking are key to securing guest DJ opportunities.
