Mama's Fish House

We wanted to have lunch at Mama's Fish House for our first visit. It had been suggested to us some time ago to go at lunch, as it's less expensive then. I looked at their current menu and it's for both lunch and dinner. Am I missing something?

Mahalo!

Mama’s Fish House on Maui is famous for its fresh seafood and beautiful oceanfront setting. Many people recommend going for lunch rather than dinner because the prices are generally lower and the portion sizes are slightly smaller, making it a more affordable way to experience the restaurant without compromising on quality.

Currently, the menu at Mama’s Fish House is largely the same for both lunch and dinner. The main difference is that lunch often has slightly fewer appetizer options, and the ambiance tends to be more casual. Dinner tends to have a more formal, full-service experience with some additional specials and entrees available.

Here are some tips for lunch at Mama’s Fish House:

  • Arrive early or make a reservation well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, as it’s very popular.
  • Expect the same high-quality seafood that they are known for—dishes like fresh fish, crab, and lobster are available.
  • Lunch portions are slightly smaller than dinner, so if you have a big appetite, you may want to order an appetizer or dessert to complement your meal.
  • Going at lunch can be a good strategy for trying multiple dishes without the higher cost of dinner prices.

In short, you are not missing anything on the menu itself, but lunch is simply considered a more cost-effective option while still enjoying the full Mama’s Fish House experience.
