Birthday Night Ideas

We are coming to Amelia Island for a weekend Fri-Mon to celebrate the birthday of my better half. We are staying at the Ritz and are beach people so looking forward to enjoying the resort amenities, spa, etc. We will rent a car.

The birthday is on Sunday and I would love to know of some great birthday-worthy restaurants. Atmosphere is more important to us than food, to be honest. We love good food, but love a good atmosphere more. The only cuisine we don't like is French. We love "shabby chic" or casual upscale restaurants. We also love being on or near the water --any water. Is there a boat cruise that would be recommended? I am just trying to plan a fun evening/afternoon to celebrate the birthday! Price isn't of concern in this particular plan.

Thanks for any ideas that folks may have --

Amelia Island is a fantastic choice for a birthday weekend, especially staying at the Ritz-Carlton with its beautiful beachfront and luxurious amenities. Since atmosphere is a top priority, there are several dining and activity options that can make a birthday celebration feel special and memorable.

Birthday-Worthy Restaurants:

  • The Reef: A beachfront restaurant with casual upscale décor, offering fresh seafood and stunning sunset views. Perfect for a relaxed, celebratory dinner on the sand.
  • Salt at The Ritz-Carlton: For a more refined experience without being overly formal or French cuisine, Salt offers upscale American fare with an intimate ambiance and views of the resort’s gardens and lagoon.
  • Bogey’s Restaurant & Lounge: Located within the Amelia River Golf Club, Bogey’s combines a casual chic vibe with beautiful water views and outdoor seating.
  • Timoti’s Seafood Shak: For a fun, casual approach with high-quality seafood, Timoti’s is near the water and has a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, ideal for celebrating without stuffiness.
  • Espana Restaurant & Tapas: Slightly offbeat and colorful, offering small plates in a cozy setting. Good for a casual birthday celebration with vibrant energy.

Water-Based Activities:

  • Sunset or Dinner Cruise: Several local companies offer private or small group cruises along the Amelia River or into the Intracoastal Waterway. A sunset cruise with champagne or cocktails would make a very memorable birthday experience.
  • Private Boat Rental: If you prefer flexibility, you can rent a small boat or yacht for a few hours. Many include options for picnic lunches or drinks onboard.
  • Paddleboard or Kayak Tours: For a daytime adventure on the water, guided tours along the salt marshes provide beautiful scenery and opportunities to see local wildlife.

Additional Tips:

  • Consider booking any dinner or cruise in advance, especially for a weekend visit, as spots can fill quickly.
  • If you want to combine spa and dining, the Ritz offers spa packages that can be timed around a late lunch or early dinner to keep the birthday day seamless.
  • Sunset timing is key if you want dramatic views; check local sunset times and plan either a beachside dinner or cruise accordingly.

In summary, for a birthday celebration on Amelia Island, combining a beachside or waterfront dinner with a sunset cruise or private boat ride offers both atmosphere and memorable experiences. Between the resort amenities and nearby restaurants with casual upscale charm, you’ll have plenty of options to create a perfect birthday weekend.
