Siesta Key is back, where are all the tourists?

Looks like tourists shied away a bit due to last year's storm, but there is no need. In early August the storms are pop up with plenty of beach play time under scattered clouds.

Any locals want to chime in on best weeks ahead for more fun in the sun?

It’s great to hear that Siesta Key is bouncing back and that the tourists are starting to return after last year’s storm! The island offers a beautiful escape with its pristine beaches, clear waters, and laid-back atmosphere. As you mentioned, early August does bring a few scattered storms, but the beach time is still possible with the right timing, and the cloud cover can even make the hot weather more tolerable.

If you're wondering when the best weeks are ahead for fun in the sun, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Late September to Early October: This time frame is excellent for fewer crowds as the summer tourism winds down. The weather can be a little more unpredictable with a higher chance of rain, but it’s still a great time to enjoy Siesta Key without the heavy tourist traffic. The water temperature is warm, and the beaches aren’t overcrowded, giving you more space to enjoy the sun.
  • November: As the weather cools down, Siesta Key becomes even more pleasant, and the beaches are still relatively uncrowded. It's one of the best times to visit if you want to avoid the crowds of the peak tourist season but still enjoy the warm Florida sunshine. Plus, the weather is usually perfect for outdoor activities like kayaking and biking.
  • March to April (Spring Break Season): If you're okay with more crowds and want to experience Siesta Key at its busiest, this is the time when spring break takes over. The beaches are full, but there's a lot of energy and plenty of events happening around Sarasota. If you're into the social scene, this could be your time.

For locals, the most recommended time for a balance of great weather and fewer tourists tends to be in the late fall (November) and early spring (March to April), just before the peak season starts in full swing. But if you’re hoping for a quieter experience, try to visit just outside of the holidays, when the island has a more relaxed vibe.

Overall, Siesta Key offers year-round enjoyment, but for those looking to avoid the tourist rush and still get plenty of sunshine, I would recommend visiting in late September or November for a perfect mix of pleasant weather and less crowded beaches!
