Hotel similar to Plantation Inn Easy Access To Airport

I understand this small hotel was destroyed in the fires but have had my eye on it for years. Its just a perfect example of what I would like in a different area.

I will be visiting a friend in Kihei mid September. Frankly we are a little intolerant of each other after few days and I need an out.

I will not have a car and hope for a small hotel(small tropical setting pool) for a couple nights solo. Walking to Coffee, Food, Cocktail, etc. Hope to not go over $75 to Uber to airport. Cheaper ride from Surftides, Kihei to the hotel. Heart of little town ok just want to be able to walk up to 1/2 mile or so to beach.

Up to $250 all in possible? I will not have had AC so hope for crisp linens and cool temps!

No vacation rental.

Thanks Everyone!

Since the Plantation Inn in Lahaina was a small, tropical-style boutique hotel with easy access to shops, restaurants, and beaches, you are looking for something similar in Kihei with a small hotel feel, walking distance to amenities, and a budget-conscious approach.

While Kihei has more vacation rentals, there are a few small hotels and inns that can fit your criteria of a solo, short stay with a pool and easy walking access:

  • Seaside Maui Inn: A small, comfortable hotel in central Kihei. Walking distance to beaches, cafés, and a few casual restaurants. Rooms are simple but clean, and the property has a small pool and tropical landscaping.
  • Kihei Surfside: Located just steps from Kamaole Beach Park I, this small hotel offers studios with kitchenettes. It has a pool and is within walking distance of coffee shops, casual eateries, and a short walk to the beach.
  • Aston at the Maui Banyan: A slightly larger property but with a relaxed atmosphere. Units include kitchen facilities, and there are several pools on site. Walking distance to Kihei town amenities and beaches.

Additional considerations to match your preferences:

  • Uber or taxi to the airport (OGG) from Kihei typically runs $30–$45, well under your $75 limit.
  • Mid-September tends to be warm but not excessively hot; look for units with cross-ventilation or ceiling fans. Some have AC, but many rely on natural breezes.
  • Check with the front desk about linens and housekeeping; small boutique-style hotels often pride themselves on fresh, crisp linens.
  • Staying in central Kihei allows you to explore on foot: coffee, casual dining, cocktail spots, and a short beach walk without a car.

For your budget of around $250 per night all-in, all three options above are feasible if booked in advance. They provide the small tropical hotel vibe, pool, and easy walking access you enjoyed at the Plantation Inn.

It’s also worth calling directly to inquire about quiet units if you want a calm solo retreat after visiting your friend.
