1 night where to stay?

We will be landing in Orlando, but heading to Savannah the next day.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay for 1 night that is:

Ideally a beach location

Accessible from MCO within 1.5hours (willing to be flexible for right location)

Not in the opposite direction to where we are going

Has parking

Clean room

Around $135/night or less, although this too can be flexible for the right property.

We have been looking at Cocoa beach and have provisionally booked the beachside hotel and suites, but the reviews are really off putting. In particular, lots of reviews about cockroaches and dirty rooms.

If you're looking for a beach destination close to Orlando that doesn't involve a long detour and offers clean accommodations, there are several great options to consider. Given your criteria, here are a few recommendations that might fit your needs for an affordable and pleasant one-night stay, ideally located within an hour and a half of Orlando International Airport (MCO) and not too far from the route to Savannah:

  • Cocoa Beach – This area is a popular choice due to its proximity to Orlando (about 1 hour from MCO). While you mentioned the Beachside Hotel & Suites had mixed reviews, there are other highly rated properties that offer clean rooms, parking, and beach access:
    • The Resort on Cocoa Beach – A family-friendly option that offers beach access, pools, and well-maintained rooms. It's slightly more expensive but falls within the flexibility of your budget.
    • Cocoa Beach Suites – A quieter, budget-friendly option that's still close to the beach and has good reviews for cleanliness and location. It's a good alternative to the Beachside Hotel.
  • Port Canaveral Area – This area is very close to Cocoa Beach and is home to some great hotels with easy beach access. It’s also in the direction of Savannah, so it won’t be out of your way:
    • Radisson Resort at the Port – This property is located near Port Canaveral and offers a great mix of beach access, a pool, and a clean, comfortable stay. Parking is available, and it’s only about 1 hour from MCO.
    • Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Port Canaveral – Another excellent option with a convenient location, clean rooms, and free parking. It also has a good reputation for its affordability and friendly service.
  • New Smyrna Beach – About 1.5 hours from Orlando, this beach town is a bit quieter than Cocoa Beach but offers a beautiful beach and a charming small-town vibe. It’s still accessible and offers several options for a relaxing stay:
    • The Inn on the Avenue – A small, boutique hotel just a few blocks from the beach. It's a bit more upscale but offers great value for its price and has a cozy, clean atmosphere.
    • Hampton Inn New Smyrna Beach – Located right on the beach, this hotel offers a good balance of comfort, clean rooms, and affordability. It's also close to restaurants and local attractions, making it perfect for a quick overnight stay.

These locations provide a good mix of affordability, cleanliness, beach access, and convenience for your travel route. Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral are the closest options, but if you want something a little quieter, New Smyrna Beach offers a more relaxed vibe while still being within range of MCO.

Make sure to check recent reviews to ensure the property meets your cleanliness standards, especially if you're concerned about things like pests. It's always a good idea to double-check for any promotions or deals as prices can fluctuate depending on the time of year.

Safe travels and enjoy your stay in Florida!
