Savis lightsaber

Hi! Does anyone with experience of going to Savis workshop have a suggestion on what time to do it ? We are staying off property. Don’t want to have to lug it around all day. Is there a place to store it ? Or is it ok to take on most rides ? Thank you. This is one of the main reasons we are going to Hollywood Studios

Visiting Savi’s Workshop at Hollywood Studios is a highlight for many Star Wars fans, and planning the timing of your visit can make the experience much smoother. Since you’re staying off property, there are a few strategies to make it more convenient and enjoyable.

The workshop is immersive and takes about 20–30 minutes, but you will want extra time for check-in and the pre-briefing. Because the lightsaber is a custom creation, you’ll have it with you for the rest of the day unless you make arrangements for storage.

  • Best time to book: Early in the morning, shortly after park opening, can be ideal. This allows you to experience the workshop without the late-day crowds and gives you time to enjoy other attractions nearby afterward. Alternatively, late afternoon can work if you plan to leave the park soon after, minimizing the time you have to carry the lightsaber.
  • Carrying the lightsaber: The lightsaber comes in a sturdy box that can be carried comfortably, but it may be cumbersome on rides or through crowded areas. Most standard rides do not allow large bags, so you may need to leave it with a family member or use a locker.
  • Storage options: Hollywood Studios has locker rentals near the entrance and at certain ride locations. Renting a locker for the day is a practical solution if you want to do attractions without carrying the lightsaber. Alternatively, you could return to your hotel briefly if the timing works.

Additional tips:

  • Consider booking the workshop via the official Disney reservation system as early as possible, since it often sells out quickly.
  • Plan your other attractions around your workshop time to minimize backtracking across the park.
  • If you choose to carry the lightsaber, keep it in its box and be mindful of narrow queues or crowded areas.

In summary, early morning or late afternoon bookings tend to be the most convenient for off-property guests. Using a locker for storage allows you to enjoy rides without hassle, and most guests find that careful planning ensures the Savi’s Workshop experience is smooth and memorable without needing to lug the lightsaber around all day.
