Recommendation for 4 day stay

Recommendations please. I'm arriving in Orlando and spending 4 nights there before getting the train down to Fort Lauderdale. Not interested in theme park rides but want to enjoy the area. Don't want to do lots of travelling as will be doing that later the same week. What hotel would you recommend that isn't too expensive, ie around £100 per night or cheaper with good facilities for non-drivers, close enough to airport so doesn't cost us a fortune in an Uber, but close enough to get Uber to attractions and places to eat in easy walking distance.

Thanks

If you're spending four nights in Orlando, don’t want theme parks, won’t have a car, and want to keep Uber costs reasonable, the key is to stay in an area that is walkable, safe, and full of restaurants while remaining close enough to the airport (MCO) to avoid high transport costs. Fortunately, Orlando has a few great neighborhoods that work very well for non-drivers.

Your budget of about £100 per night (roughly $120–$130 USD depending on season) is achievable outside peak times. Below are the best areas and specific hotel recommendations that fit what you're looking for.

Best Areas for a Non-Driver in Orlando

  • International Drive (I-Drive) – The best overall match: extremely walkable, huge number of restaurants, shops, and attractions. Easy Uber rides to places like ICON Park, Pointe Orlando, and resorts. About 20–25 minutes from the airport.
  • Lake Buena Vista – Slightly quieter than I-Drive but still walkable around the Disney Springs area. Can be a bit pricier depending on dates.
  • Downtown Orlando – Better for restaurants, bars, and a more local feel. Not as tourist-focused. Some areas are highly walkable, but hotel prices vary.

Recommended Hotels Within Your Budget

These hotels usually fall within or close to your target price range depending on travel dates. All are walkable to food and attractions and offer easy Uber access.

  • Hampton Inn Orlando International Drive / Convention Center

One of the best fits for non-drivers. Very walkable, quiet area near the convention center, with plenty of restaurants within minutes. Free breakfast, good pool, about a $25–$35 Uber from the airport.

  • Hyatt Place Orlando / I-Drive / Convention Center

A very comfortable mid-range option with large rooms. Short walk to ICON Park and restaurants. Usually well-priced outside conference season.

  • Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando

A popular inexpensive hotel with genuinely good value. Older property but clean, safe, and extremely walkable. Scores well with guests who want convenience over luxury.

  • Holiday Inn Express & Suites Orlando - International Drive

Reliable, walkable, and includes breakfast. Good for a simple, comfortable stay with predictable quality.

  • TownePlace Suites Orlando at SeaWorld

If you prefer quieter surroundings but still want restaurants nearby, this is a nice fit. Kitchens in room, good pool, newer property. Uber to many attractions is inexpensive.

What to Do Without Theme Parks

Since you’re not interested in rides, Orlando still has plenty of relaxing, interesting things to do without big travel distances.

  • ICON Park – Very close to most I-Drive hotels. Lots of casual dining, bars, museums, and shops.
  • Leu Gardens – Beautiful peaceful garden area in Orlando, great Uber destination.
  • Lake Eola Park (downtown) – A lovely lake with swan boats, markets (on Sundays), and cafes in walking distance.
  • Winter Park – A charming and upscale small-town district. Great for shopping, dining, and the scenic boat tour. Very easy Uber ride.
  • Pointe Orlando – Walkable food, bars, movie theater, entertainment.

Estimated Uber Costs (approx.)

  • MCO Airport → I-Drive hotels: $25–$35
  • I-Drive → Downtown Orlando: $15–$20
  • I-Drive → Winter Park: $20–$30

Overall Best Choice for You

For convenience, walkability, variety of food options, good Uber access, and consistent hotel prices, International Drive is the strongest recommendation. Staying at one of the hotels above will give you a comfortable, low-stress base where you can easily fill four days without needing a car or spending much on transportation.
