Most walkable hotel
My wife and I will be in Fort Lauderdale the first week of December. My wife will have to work periodically in the hotel room. I would appreciate some ideas for hotels that are walkable to sports/dive bars for me to kill time until her meeting(s) are over…..or any other places that would be good to kill some time. Thanks, in advance, for any and all ideas.
Fort Lauderdale offers several neighborhoods with walkable hotel options, particularly along Las Olas Boulevard and the beach areas. For a mix of convenience, walkability to sports bars, and a comfortable environment for someone needing to work in-room, there are several good choices.
Neighborhoods to consider:
- Las Olas Boulevard / Downtown: This area is very walkable, with many bars, casual eateries, coffee shops, and boutiques within a few blocks. Staying here gives you access to a lively nightlife scene and plenty of options for casual drinks while your wife is working.
- Fort Lauderdale Beach: Hotels along the beach strip offer walkable bars and restaurants, with a more relaxed vibe. While slightly less concentrated than Las Olas for sports bars, there are still plenty of casual spots and beachside bars to enjoy.
- Wilton Manors: A short drive or Uber ride from central Fort Lauderdale, this area has a high concentration of bars and casual spots, especially if you want something a little more eclectic. Walkability may be more limited if staying in a hotel outside the core streets.
Hotel options with good walkability and amenities for working in-room:
- The Riverside Hotel: Located on Las Olas Boulevard, walking distance to multiple bars and restaurants. Offers comfortable rooms and business amenities.
- El Prado Inn: Boutique option near downtown Las Olas, easy walking access to casual bars and coffee shops.
- Pelican Grand Beach Resort: Beachfront property with resort amenities, walkable to nearby bars along A1A and the beach strip.
- Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort: Another beachfront hotel with business-friendly rooms and access to local bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Other things to do while your wife works:
- Walk along Las Olas Boulevard for shopping, galleries, and cafes.
- Explore the Riverwalk area, which has parks, bars, and occasional live music.
- Check out local breweries or casual sports bars that are within a few blocks of your hotel.
- Relax at the beach if staying near Fort Lauderdale Beach, with bars and snack shacks nearby.
In summary, for maximum walkability to bars and dining, staying along Las Olas Boulevard or in the beachfront area is your best bet. Both areas provide easy access to local spots to relax, and the hotels offer suitable in-room amenities if your wife needs to work during her meetings.
