Flights
Who flies to Lakeland airport?
Good question. As of now, the only commercial airline that flies scheduled passenger service into Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) is Avelo Airlines.
- Avelo Airlines — Avelo has made LAL one of its bases in Central Florida.
- They operate Boeing 737 aircraft to several destinations.
- Current nonstop destinations from Lakeland include:
- Atlanta (ATL) — service resuming per recent announcements.
- Grand Rapids, Michigan (GRR) — twice-weekly service.
- Long Island, New York (ISP) — starting in June per announcement.
- Nashville, Tennessee (BNA) — launched in 2025.
- New Haven, Connecticut (HVN) — Avelo launched LAL ↔ HVN service in June 2024.
- Charlotte / Concord, NC (USA) — one of its LAL routes.
- Boston / Manchester, NH (MHT) — another Avelo nonstop from Lakeland.
- Rochester, NY (ROC) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) — also in Avelo’s route network from LAL.
- Charter or Private Flights — If you’re not relying on commercial airlines, there are also private and charter services:
- Surf Air provides private on-demand charter flights from LAL.
So in short: Avelo is currently the only commercial carrier offering regular passenger flights in and out of Lakeland Linder Airport. For anything else (private, charter), you’d need to book through an operator like Surf Air.
If you're looking for more airline options, you might also consider flying into nearby larger airports like Tampa International (TPA) or Orlando International (MCO), which have many more carriers and then driving to Lakeland.
