lodging for older solo
hi all. yet another question about lodgings. I'm a solo older female looking for a very quiet and very clean hotel with good a/c.I don't need to be in the thick of things - just decent walkability - (grocery, beach, restaurants) I don't need a beach resort since I'm past days of roasting and beach sitting. As such, am looking at the holiday inn and marriott courtyard. the former doesn't inspire , and the latter may have too much noise....both seems to fit the bill. looking on priceline, they more or less fit my budget of $600/$700 . any ideas? much appreciated.
thank you
For a solo older traveler looking for quiet, cleanliness, and good air conditioning in Kailua-Kona, there are several options that might suit your needs better than the Holiday Inn or Marriott Courtyard, especially if you want to avoid the busier, resort-style experience.
Considerations:
- Quietness: Look for smaller boutique hotels, condo-style accommodations, or adult-oriented properties rather than large resorts.
- Walkability: You’ll want to be within reasonable walking distance to a grocery store, casual restaurants, and the waterfront area, without being in a high-traffic tourist zone.
- Comfort & amenities: A/C, clean rooms, and reliable internet are key for solo travelers who may spend more time in the room resting or planning excursions.
Potential options:
- Royal Kona Resort: Centrally located, moderate-sized property, generally quieter than the big resorts, with A/C, clean rooms, and ocean views without being overly crowded.
- Kona Seaside Hotel: Small, boutique feel, close to restaurants and the grocery store, clean and simple accommodations. Good for solo travelers wanting quietness.
- Holualoa Inn or Kona Bay Hotel (B&B/inn style): These offer smaller, quieter properties with personalized service, usually very clean and comfortable. May require a short drive to beaches or downtown, but still walkable to some amenities.
- Vacation rental condos: Platforms like VRBO or Airbnb may have one-bedroom units in Kailua-Kona or nearby Holualoa, offering quiet, self-contained lodging with A/C, kitchens, and privacy.
Overall, for a quiet, clean, and reasonably walkable experience, boutique hotels or small inns in Kailua-Kona or nearby neighborhoods will likely offer a better experience than the Holiday Inn or Marriott Courtyard. Rentals or B&Bs also provide flexibility and a quieter environment.
