Luggage storage at Disney or other ideas?
Our family will be on a 4 night cruise in January. We have a super late flight the day we disembark the ship. We want to go to Disney for the day but can’t figure out what to do with our luggage. Any ideas?
Visiting Disney on the day you disembark a cruise with luggage can be tricky, but there are several ways to manage your bags so you can enjoy the parks without stress.
Here are your options:
- Disney Luggage Storage Services – Disney theme parks do not have full-service luggage storage for all-day visits like a hotel would, but there are a few options:
- At the entrance to each park, Guest Relations can hold small items for you temporarily. This is usually for a few hours, so not ideal for all-day visits.
- If you have Disney Resort hotel reservations, even for a day, you may be able to check in your luggage at the hotel early, even before your room is ready.
- On-site hotels near Disney – Many nearby hotels offer day-use luggage storage if you book a day room or if you are already a guest:
- Check with hotels in Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee, or Disney Springs area. Some will allow you to leave luggage in a secure area while you enjoy the parks, even without a room, for a small fee.
- Some hotels also offer packages for cruise guests that include luggage storage before or after the cruise.
- Cruise line luggage options – Some cruise lines allow you to leave luggage at the terminal for later pick-up or storage. Check with your cruise line to see if they offer same-day luggage holding or transfer services.
- Third-party luggage storage services – Companies like LuggageHero, Bounce, or Vertoe operate around Orlando near Disney and the airport. You can drop off your luggage for a few hours or the whole day at local shops or hotels. These services are convenient and secure for park visits.
- Rent a car with trunk space – If you are driving, you could keep luggage in the vehicle and plan your park day accordingly. You’d want to plan meals and breaks around your parking strategy.
Tips:
- Try to pack only what you need for the day—consider a small backpack with essentials and leave the bulk of your luggage in storage.
- Confirm hours and policies with any storage provider ahead of time. Some may close early or have holiday hours.
- Plan early entry or Genie+ strategies if you want to maximize park time without worrying about luggage later.
In short, the most convenient approach is usually a combination of using a nearby hotel or a third-party luggage storage service. This allows you to enjoy Disney stress-free while keeping your cruise luggage safe.
