Candlelight Motor Inn, Greenfield
Appears to be boarded up and closed. Anyone have info? They seem to still be taking reservations! I'm looking for a pet friendly inexpensive motel with kitchenette or at least fridge and Microwave. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Hi Fiona — short version: the Candlelight Motor Inn in Greenfield appears to be closed/boarded and the property has been discussed for redevelopment, so I’d not rely on online availability showing it as open without calling and getting a live confirmation.
That said, there are several nearby, genuinely pet-friendly and inexpensive options that either have kitchenettes or at minimum in-room refrigerators and microwaves. Below I list a few choices (from budget motels to suite properties) with notes so you can pick what fits your needs.
- Hampton Inn & Suites — Greenfield — Pet friendly (fees apply; typically allows up to 2 pets), and many rooms list in-room refrigerators and microwaves. Good mid-range option with reliable brand standards.
- Days Inn by Wyndham — Greenfield — Budget option; commonly reported to be pet friendly (pet fee) and rooms include a microwave and mini-fridge — a solid inexpensive pick if you only need fridge + microwave rather than a full kitchenette.
- Red Roof Inn PLUS+ — South Deerfield (Amherst area) — A short drive away; frequently listed as pet-friendly (some locations allow pets free or for a small fee) and many rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. Good low-cost alternative when Greenfield properties are limited.
- Homewood Suites by Hilton — Hadley/Amherst (Hadley) — If you prefer a true kitchenette (small stove, full fridge, sink, and prep area), Homewood Suites offers suites with kitchenettes and is pet-friendly (fee applies). It’s a bit farther (Hadley/Amherst area) but convenient if you want cooking facilities.
Practical tips when booking (so you don’t end up with a reservation at a closed property):
- Call the motel/hotel directly (use the phone number shown on the brand site or a recent listing) rather than relying only on third-party booking confirmations — this avoids stale listings like a boarded property still accepting reservations online.
- Ask specifically: “Are you open/accepting check-ins? Is the pet policy current? Does my room include a refrigerator and microwave (or kitchenette)?” — request confirmation the room you’re reserving has the amenity.
- Check recent guest reviews (last 30–90 days) on multiple sites (Google/Yelp/Tripadvisor/Booking) to confirm the property’s current status and condition.
- If you need a true kitchenette, prioritize suite brands (Homewood Suites, TownePlace Suites, extended-stay properties) rather than mom-and-pop motels.
