Recommended interesting museums around the world: these museums in Japan, Italy, Canada, and China are worth visiting

Preface

For me, when traveling to a city, in addition to the must-see attractions, museums and art exhibitions are also must-sees. I spend a day carefully understanding them and exploring the author's own profound meaning through the design and structure of the buildings.

Besides looking at the art, the exhibition is also a great place to shop, especially for museum merchandise or small items from collaborations. Generally, the prices are very good, so you can buy a few to give to friends or keep for yourself.

I initially thought museums were all old and boring, but after visiting many, I discovered there are so many unique and varied museums. Today, I'm going to recommend a few that I found quite interesting. They're listed by country and city.

Japan|Hakone

1. Narukawa Art Museum

Ticket price: 1300 yen for all

Recommended reason: Located in Hakone, this is a beautiful art museum with a great view of the torii gate. Photography is not allowed in the exhibition hall, and the style is modern, so it is accessible to ordinary people.

The museum's gift section is also a great place to browse. If you're interested, you can buy a painting to hang up at home. I don't know when it started, but I've been bringing paintings home from my travels around the world, just like collecting refrigerator magnets.

2. Open-Air Museum

Full Ticket Price: 1600 yen

Recommended: Located in Hakone Gora, this is Japan's first outdoor art museum. Many of the works in the museum were purchased from Picasso's eldest daughter. There are also sculptures by famous artists from around the world. The Symphony of Fortune is probably the one I'm most looking forward to. The spiral staircase is set in stained glass and is truly beautiful.

The sky was hazy and foggy when I went there, so the lighting was a little poor, but at first glance it was still the most beautiful art museum.

Forest of Nets, a work by Canadian writer Noriko Horiuchi, is a huge dragnet with great colors.

3.polamuseum

Full Ticket Price: 1600 yen

Recommended reason: Pola is the Japanese skincare brand we girls know. This is the owner's private art gallery, which features many works by Impressionist artists, including Monet's Water Lilies!

The floor-to-ceiling glass windows that can be seen everywhere in the museum are simple and clean, and the red leaves outside are beautiful on a rainy day.

4. Hakone Venetian Glass Museum

Full Ticket Price: 1500 yen

Recommended reason: A fairy tale world full of sparkling glass. The overall style is more like a European palace. The glass trees and reeds are shining even on cloudy days.

The entire museum garden is filled with glass objects, which would be even more beautiful if there was sunlight. The exhibits and shops are also very fun to visit, all of which are sparkling and girly.

Italy | Rome

Rome is a place where it is very easy to visit exhibitions. There is an exhibition and a museum at every step. As long as you are willing, there are exhibitions of great painters everywhere. But what I want to talk about today are some special exhibitions.

DREAM

Tickets: 14€/person

The cover photo is very beautiful and feels very textured. You will need to wear headphones when you enter. English explanations are provided, and there is currently no Chinese explanation. With the music, each picture is a small story. Following the scene and the small story will make you feel very full and the structure is full.

My favorite place in the whole venue is the curtain, it is so beautiful. The exhibition’s promotional homepage was also taken here, it is very dreamy. You can stay here for a while to take pictures.

Sanxingdui - The World of Man and God Special Exhibition

I was very excited to see the Sanxingdui exhibition in Rome. Although the exhibits on loan to Rome are certainly not as good as those in China, where you can see a more complete collection at the Jinsha Ruins in Chengdu, being in a foreign country naturally gave me a sense of national pride.

Canada | Montreal

Museum of Modern Art

The museum consists of two buildings, facing each other across the street. The one on East Street houses a fine collection of European paintings, while the one on West Street showcases modern art and works by Canadian artists. A long underground passage connects the two museums, and the designers cleverly utilize the space to display artifacts from ancient civilizations such as India, Japan, China, and Persia on both sides of the passage.

The museum also features restaurants with diverse cuisines, a variety of souvenir shops, and a bookstore, offering a place for people to relax and shop after their visit. The museum changes its theme each year, and this time, the exhibition focused on the rights and victimization of women in Canadian history.

Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is one of the most influential art museums in Canada. It houses a collection of paintings, sculptures, decorations, ancient utensils and other artworks from different eras and styles around the world. It also holds various large-scale exhibitions in Canada and abroad, attracting many art lovers.

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts' (MMF) originates from the Montreal Art Society, a group of wealthy art lovers and collectors formed in 1860. Using a small plot of land and a sum of money bequeathed by Montreal businessman Benaiah Gibb, the Society established the forerunner of the MFM in 1897—Canada's first dedicated art gallery. A collection of European paintings and sculptures donated by Benaiah Gibb also became part of the Society's permanent collection.

From 1909 to 1912, the Art Society established a new museum on Sherbrooke Street. Although the museum suffered some damage during World War I, it experienced rapid growth after the war. In 1948, the Art Society renamed the museum the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

The museum has two buildings and houses over 30,000 exhibits. A complete tour would take about half a day. Whether you're an art enthusiast or not, this is a worthwhile experience!

Jinsha Site Museum

The two main buildings of the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum are the Relics Hall and the Exhibition Hall. Both buildings have a sloping exterior, symbolizing the rising of the Jinsha Site.

The Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum houses a total of 2,235 cultural relics, including gold, bronze, jade, stone, lacquerware, pottery, and ivory. Among these, 366 are first-class, 374 are second-class, and 1,429 are third-class, making it a national first-class museum.

The museum's treasure: the golden mask

Whether you have been to the Jinsha Ruins or not, you will definitely not forget the golden mask and the sun bird in their promotional brochure.

These two were my first reasons for visiting the Jinsha Museum, but after exploring it, I discovered that the museum is very large and has many areas. Each hall and each exhibit contains so many stories, showing the breadth and depth of Chinese culture.

In addition to viewing the various exhibits, there is also an outdoor area that feels like a small park. The deer are released for a period of time every afternoon. Coming here once is like going to Nara.

Conclusion

There are so many museums, and we should take a little time to visit them when we travel. Even if we only visit one exhibition in a city or country, it will be great to accumulate knowledge slowly. In addition, when visiting a museum, please be careful not to make loud noises, eat, and maintain a good image.
