Our country is vast and rich in resources, but we have to rely on foreigners for construction along the way. I feel ashamed.

In recent days, the most exciting news for You Xiaojun on Weibo is the opening of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway.

110 years ago, China's first independently designed and built railway, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, was completed; 110 years later, at the same place, the world's first intelligent high-speed railway, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway, was officially put into operation.

The introduction of railways into China not only pushed the country towards modernization, but also greatly changed the course of history.

Thanks to the opening of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway, the journey from Beijing to Zhangjiakou has been reduced from 3 hours to 1 hour, the journey from Beijing to Datong has been reduced from 6 hours to 2 hours and 20 minutes, and the journey from Beijing to Hohhot has been reduced from 9 hours to 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Why is it called a smart high-speed rail? Let’s take a look at the official introduction:
The intelligent Fuxing EMU trains running on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway adopt an intelligent train operation dispatching and command system and traction power supply system, and apply Beidou navigation, disaster prevention and warning technologies to achieve automatic driving.

At the same time, there are functions such as electronic tickets, one-card pass, face recognition entry, station navigation system and self-service, providing intelligent services for passengers.
This is undoubtedly good news for travelers. In just one weekend, they can go skiing at the Winter Olympics venue, eat mutton Shaomai in Hohhot, or visit the Hanging Temple in Datong, Shanxi.
Today, You Xiaojun will give you an inventory of places you can visit along the Beijing-Zhangjiakou, Zhangjiakou-Huhai, and Zhangjiakou-Dalian high-speed railways.
Chongli is located in the northwest of Hebei Province, in the transition zone between the Inner Mongolia Plateau and the North China Plain. Its altitude ranges from 814 meters to 2,174 meters, and the mountain slopes are mostly between 5 and 35 degrees.

The special terrain has created a unique microclimate, with an average annual snowfall of 63.5 cm, a cumulative snow accumulation of about 1 meter, and snow retention time of more than 150 days.
All snow quality parameters such as snow quality, particle hardness, and viscosity meet skiing standards, making it the most suitable place for skiing.

Since Beijing and Zhangjiakou successfully bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics in 2015, Chongli has become one of the main competition venues for snow events in the Winter Olympics and has transformed from an unknown small county into a world-renowned ski resort.
With the opening of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, Chongli has entered Beijing's "1-hour living circle", making it more convenient for those who like skiing.

In addition to the regular ski routes, we also run a ski winter camp for children!

The opening of the Zhanghu High-speed Railway finally gives us the opportunity to realize our grassland and desert dreams. The journey is shortened from 9 hours to 2 hours and 40 minutes, passing through Ulanqab, Hohhot, etc., and ending in Baotou City.
The closest and most beautiful grassland to Ulanqab is Huitengxile, which can be reached by driving more than 80 kilometers northwest from Ulanqab Railway Station.

This is the location of the Asian Wind Farm. White windmills can be seen everywhere on the grassland. Flowers sway, windmills turn, horses gallop, and pastoral songs are loud. It looks like a fairyland under the blue sky and white clouds.
There is also a magical secret place of flower grassland here - Huanghuagou, a typical alpine grassland terrain with an average altitude of more than 2,000 meters. Due to the special terrain, there are undulating mountains, gullies, cliffs and winding stretches.

The average annual temperature is 7℃, and there are astronomical wonders such as "Snow in June and Dog Days of Summer", making it a rare summer resort outside the Great Wall.
When talking about Inner Mongolia, people only think of grasslands, but in fact the capital Hohhot is also a treasure trove.

Hohhot has a long history and splendid culture. It is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization, the birthplace of Hu clothing and horse riding, the destination of Zhaojun's journey to the frontier, the birthplace of Xianbei Tuoba, the place where Mongolian merchants trade, and the frontier where nomadic civilization and agricultural civilization intersect, collide and merge.
The local specialty snack, Shaomai, was recently featured on Breakfast China. Taking a weekend break from the daily grind to enjoy the food and visit the museum is a great option.

In Baotou City, 50 kilometers south is the Kubuqi Desert, China's seventh largest desert.

Here, you can realize your desert dream, stay in a five-star hotel in the heart of the desert, go hiking, and have fun.

Apart from the labels of coal boss, aged vinegar, and noodle lover, you will never imagine how wonderful Shanxi Datong is!
Like Xi'an and Luoyang, Datong was once an ancient capital, known as Yunzhong and Pingcheng in ancient times. It was the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty and the secondary capital of the Liao and Jin Dynasties. There are many historical sites in the area, and the famous cultural relics include the Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Hengshan Hanging Temple, Nine Dragon Wall, etc.
The Yungang Grottoes, equally renowned as the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, are the first large-scale imperial cave temples built after Buddhism was introduced to China during the Han Dynasty. They reflect the gradual secularization and nationalization of Buddhist sculpture in China, with distinctive styles found in the early, middle, and late periods of the period.

The Hanging Temple was built in 491 AD and is the only remaining temple in China that integrates Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

Looking from a distance, a dozen wooden pillars about as thick as a bowl support the towering temple, which is backed by a cliff and overlooks a deep valley. It really looks like it is suspended in the air. The temple is not big, but it is ingeniously crafted and quite spectacular.

The mechanical principle is based on semi-inserted beams. With the support of rocks, the corridor railings and upper and lower beams are closely connected left and right to form a whole wooden frame structure, which also increases the earthquake resistance.

Hengshan Mountain is one of the Five Great Mountains, stretching between the northern Shanxi Plateau and the central Hebei Plain. Due to its steep natural terrain and geographical location, it has become a battleground for military strategists.

Nestled in the mountain valleys, Daoma Pass, Zijing Pass, Pingxing Pass, Yanmen Pass, and Ningwu Pass are strategically located, forming the vital gateway from the plateau beyond the Great Wall to the Taiyuan Basin and the central Hebei Plain. Many emperors and renowned generals fought battles here, and numerous ancient battlefield relics, including passes, castles, and beacon towers, have been preserved.

Located at the junction of Zhangbei County and Chongli District of Zhangjiakou City, it is 132.7 kilometers long. The highway is like a dragon, entwined on the top of mountains and ridges, with winding paths, deep gullies, meadows with cattle and sheep, and magnificent scenery.

The blue sky is connected to it and the white clouds echo it. Walking on the Sky Road is like walking in the clouds, so it is named "Sky Road".
The Tianlu starts from Daqingshan (a national forest park) in the west and ends at Huapilingling in Chongli County in the east. It is known as China's Route 66.

In "Happy Trio", the route chosen by Zhang Guoli and his wife is to drive along the Grassland Sky Road.

After the high-speed rail is opened, there is no need to drive for 4 hours from Beijing. You can rent a car in Zhangjiakou and drive 40 kilometers to the Grassland Sky Road, allowing you to capture more of the scenery.

Thanks to China's infrastructure construction spree, the country's high-speed rail mileage has exceeded 35,000 kilometers, accounting for more than 2/3 of the world's total.
These places, which used to take about 2 days to reach from Beijing, can now be easily reached within 5 hours. Whether it is grasslands or deserts, you can go on a trip at any time.
This is good news not only for local Beijingers, but also for those traveling to Beijing from other places. Travel is no longer limited to Beijing. From now on, your travel content can be richer and you can go further!
